Hello DarkSpace! It's me, Puny, again popping in for a random comment..
I was thinking about my beloved Carriers.. When I got a brilliant idea!
A Mini- Carrier! No need to make a new ship, just take the image (There is a different word for this, but current Puny = Tired) from some smaller ship.
Here's my thoughts...
Escort Carrier
2 Reactors
2 Lesser Chem Laser Slot
4 Fighter Slots
1 Full Armor
1 Jump Drive
And here's a crazy idear.
Distraction Vessel
3 Reactors
2 Lesser Chem Laser Slot
2 Fighter Slots
2 Mine Slots
1 Left Side Armor
1 Right Side Armor
1 Full Armor
1 Jump Drive
Well, just had to get this imporant thing off of my chest...

why not make a minelayer destroyer into a carrier by removing its mines? Or better yet make a minelayer frigate into a carrier?

UGTO have the fighter vessles, you have the missiles. I doubt you will be getting any fighter frigates or destroyers 0.o

i had the idea of a carrier frig a long time ago
but i still think a heavy frig class would be nice
Combat Heavy Frigatte (ugto)
2 low lasers
3 Torpedoes
3 Particle cannons
3 all around heavy armour
3 ie drives
1 mirv bomb
