David James played so damned well... then he had to give it all away with that slide inside his own box...

I suppose we asked for it, although its nothing new, English football team cant win anything anyway

Honestly, there is some luck in this, England's def totally neutralized Henry and Trezeguet for 90 minutes (as usual French camp in front of opponent's goal and just erm do things and so without getting anything done). In the same time England gets one [only one] free kick, heaven delivered on Lampard's head (guess by who ?). The real turn of the game is Barthez stopping a penalty. (France mood bonus 1 d100 +40 / England malus 1d20 -40). Beckham already missed one during qualifying rounds ...
Overtime will become some secret french technique (Euro 2000 final : Italia leads 1-0, wiltord scores 93min, trezeguet 13mins later).
Best game since the beginning of the competition, though I still see Spain / Netherlands in final
A bit later today Italia - Denmark (do not miss it).

England 3 - Switzerland 0 (paf)
[the empire strikes back]

Didn't watch the game (had work in progress), just saw goals a little later, nothing bad to say They highly deserve victory and getting 3 points is an excellent option to making it to quarter finals.

Croatia 2 - France 2
[Crime of the century ! Fraud]

Only watched 2nd half (I had people in the living room so listening to screams gave a decent idea of what's going on). After beginning the tournament the same way they finished the previous one (heaven sent victory in last minutes) France had to confirm there was skill involved not only luck. It turned to a disaster, gag free kick from zidane (defender's help involved), almost exactly the same one as germany vs netherlands, but well it's the game. 2nd half was a pity, the very same attitude as last world cup (we just were pathetic), Croatia deserves its 2 goals, and trezeguet steals the match by scoring after and *unvolontary* use of his left hand ... According to rules it is unvolontary, but come on it's obvious the ball's trajectory would have much different if it had never hit a hand ........ This referee is insane, earlier in UEFA cup semi finals he gave a random yellow card to battles (Marseille - Newcastle) for a foul he couldn't have commited for the simple reason he was some 30m away from the action when it happened .... And croatia wastes its power minute (92 min) by missing to crucify barthez, and they really deserved to win !
Our brillant coach (Mr Santini, the one who looks like a tortoise and takes 2 hours to make a full sentence) is still suffering from the world cup 98 syndrom : changing as little as possible from 98's team (cool that was 6 years ago). I fear the worst vs switzerland.

I still wish to see spain vs netherlands in final (I swear there's no bet involved).

To our fellow english darkspacers (at least the one interested in football):
-Santini will be Fulham's coach next season (any special drugs found there ?)
-Lock Desailly in Chelsea, Marseille's defence is already crap enough

Canada can't win at the game it invented (hockey) against a team from a place where there is no natural ice

how do u think we feel?

hummm looks like stanley cup final (calgary / tampa bay or am I wrong ?) no ? Inventing a sport doesn't always make you the best at it, watch football (soccer), cricket, tennis and so on. I love your point about a team winning without natural ice around, when I came to know tampa bay won, my very first thought was "how much energy do people waste to keep a giant ice ring working in May in Florida"

Well, if Bulgaria does the unthinkable and beats Italy, Denmark and Sweden moves on

If they lose, it comes down to who wins the game.... (its gonna be really tricky if we play a tie here, Italy, Denmark and Sweden will all have 5 points each then )

England 4 - 2 Croatia

Damn those croats are good, but in the end, they were just out-done...

Wayne Rooney is definately something special, Beckham, Owen.. eat your hearts out!

Frank Lampard... that guy just keeps on scoring those last minute victory securers!

Paul Scholes, Kudos to the guy, first england goal in 3 years, and god did he turn a certain miss into a fantasic goal!

England Vs Portugal on Thursday...

Cya in the finals France, this time, there will be no flukey goals, we'll be ready for you!!
