Hi all,

My system setup:
1.8 GHz Core2Duo
4GB RAM
nVidia 7950GT 512MB
Win server 2008 R2 (64 bit)
Directx9 installed
Latest sound, video, motherboard, network drivers
All ports listed in FAQ enabled and forwarded in router for the game
Firewall is set to allow GameCQ and Darkspace
Antivirus has exceptions for GameCQ and Darkspace processes

Symptoms: Only when I jump into battle I get 30 second lag and only in MetaVerse (any server instance). In Kraken (scenario server) I do not get this lag in battle or otherwise. Does not matter which faction I choose

This does not happen in any other game and I've played quite a few on this system.

Is there a known problem/solution to this?

Thanks,

Gauthus

P.S. I may not reply back instantly but I will look at this post and try any suggestions sporadically

We're looking in to how some clients on slow connections may be backing up the server connection by forcing it to wait whilst it syncs all players.

Are you saying its other people possibly causing the problem or me?

If its me then:

I have DSL Elite package (http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=10938&source=ICDS25115W0DWPCPO)
Downstream Speed: Up to 6.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed: Up to 768 Kbps

I've had them for years and have had no issues with games I've played and I can fire up another game and get no lag at all. I have no torrents running or the like eating up my bandwidth. I get pings of <100 ms in most games.

I've run speed tests and have gotten close to my rated upload and download speeds.

So, does Darkspace MV servers require more than my 6.0 Mbps down and/or 768 Kbps up?

If its not me then:
Is there any ETA on when you'll know if the issue is actually the one mentioned in the quote?

And given that is there an ETA on a fix?

We're adding some debug information into beta currently to help us narrow down the problem. I'll ask Faustus to push beta to release when I next talk to him.

If it is certain players/connections holding back the server, then we've already got plans to change some parts of the networking stack, and implimenting boost:asio.

As far as an ETA for a fix, we have no date set in stone. All of the developers work on this when they have time to, which at times can be sparse.

Keep an eye on the development log for more information.

Good to know that the devs are actuly aware of the current lag issues, and takeing actions to fix them.

Then maybe i can return to actuly playing the game.

/me goes through gate
10 seconds of me alone
3 allies fade in
5 enemies fade in
all the enemy weapon fire coming at me appear

lag promotes gate camping

Are you on some kinda funny drugs, if your calling that a DSL Elite package get your money back from your DSL provider no offence but 8meg DSL is standard nowadays in most places 24Meg is becoming more like the norm and Fibre-Optic 40 Meg through to 100meg is just around the corner.

all im saying is dont call that a DSL Elite service, because most would call that a normal service.

Hardware isn't an issue. We're running a dual quad core Xeon server at 2.8Ghz.

Wow this is the first time i've seen someone admit there is an issue and they are working to fix it. And they didn't outright blame the users without any type of reason why.

I'm shocked.

Technically, it might be specific user's connections causing the issue. Which is why we're exploring that avenue.
