I click on "Lobby", and the program quits, then that's it, nothing starts, no game.
My WinXP runs lots of other MMORPGS, a dozen.
I've got an NVIDIA 6200, 1Gb and plenty HD space.
GCQL.log is empty
My trial period is about to expire... and I even didn't started the game successfully ... Thanks God I tried it before buying it...
It reminds me the trial of SWGalaxies which bugged the very first minute after starting, and for which I spent a whole night in the config files trying to fix it.
Unless someone has an idea about my problem....

could try running the gcql.exe directly from your darkspace folder
chances are pretty good its an easy fix, once the problem is known.
did you get your darkspace installer off the darkspace website or somewhere else?

Don't worry about the trial period expiring. It is easy enough to make a another account and get new trial. We do not have a policy of restricting that.
The trial status will not affect your ability to log in.
As for your actual problem, there are many potential causes. Unfortunately there isn't enough information from what you have told us so far to correctly diagnose the issue.
The most important will definately be whether you have a current version of the game client. Some (much) older versions will not connect or update properly. It is also a good idea to make sure you have not got a versioned Beta edition of the game client, as these will not work at all due to some major changes in the way beta handles the update system.
The client you should be trying to install is the DarkSpace 1.483 Release version.
If you are having problems with getting this to update, then there might be an issue with your firewall setup (if you have one). DarkSpace requires access to ports 9000-9010 to operate correctly.
Most firewalls will sort this out automatically, but it is possible to have trouble even with well known programs.
If you are able to provide some more information about your current setup, we might be able to help resolve your issue.

I have the same problem. I have the 1.483 release version. I can start up the game using the icon that was placed in my desktop during the installation, but when i click "Lobby" it goed to the lobby and it gives a message that there was an error ans had to shut down. I even tried entering the lobby using the glcq.exe but it does exactly the same.
