If you are on a network, chances are you have either a sofware or hardware firewall getting in the way. You'll have to find out how to forward the correct ports.

do you have the newest DX version?
also turn off you fire wall and see if it works then. If it does you have a firewall issue

check if the Generic Internet Connection Firewall is active, If so deactivate it(its the worst thing on a comp)
Then could you tell me what router you are using?(the compagnie and the router name plz)

the router is Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router Gateway RP614v2
but connecting to the internet without router doesnt show any changes .... so its not the router i guess ....
how do i switch off this generic fw ? or where do i find it ?

....ok ... current status is :
when i select LOBBY or TUTORIAL from the game screen .. i either get a window with a line :
" loading local catalog"
or
"connecting to 'mirror-server.palestar.com : 9100"
... in both cases this screen freezes ..... i already left it over night ... nothing happened ..... when i close the connection i get the message" could not connect .... bla" ..... so it seems i Do have access to the server but something hinders the program to run properly ..... HMMMMMM
=(

Post System Specs, Processor, Memory, Network, Video Card info.
Also explain your home environment, your PC sharing an internet connection through another device with other computers?
DSL, Cable, Dial-up
What OS are you running
What software and what hardware firewalls and routers are you using.

Verify that the Windows XP built in firewall is disabled...
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Network Settings
Select Local Area Connection
The last tab will state weither or not you wish to use the MS Firewall or not, uncheck to disable it.
