I am still getting a Display Initialization Failed error. I haven't been able to play in a week and a half. I am using a voodoo3 2000.

Go into your videocard settings and drop your resolution down to 960x720 or lower. Thats what I had to do and I havn't had that problem since. Good luck and hope to see ya soon.

One mistake alot of people make, they get the "Failed to initialize display"... then they run ClientSetup, see a valid display mode then click "Cancel"...

Please click on "Okay"

i get "failed to ..." often in the last days .. but checking the preferences doesn't solve this problem ... an i'm sure i press "okay"

after restarting my system the problem is solved.

Yes, DX8 has a really bad problem about not releasing all the resources. So rebooting fixes display problems.

Hi
Also a reason for the fail to ini... problem is to switch it into background while starting the client. Since i run it only in foreground i have no more problems with this error.

I keep getting failed to intalize settings even if i set it to the lowest. My sound card has been of 4 a good while. Something but pc sockets not being installed. I dont know if this is preventing me from playing the game.

Well, I have been trying for hours to solve this "Failed to initialize platform" crap. I've got a Voodoo 4 4500 AGP, and DX8. I've rebooted, reinstalled, changed drivers, reinstalled drivers, changed desktop resolutions, and nothing. Any NEW ideas?
