Just wanted to say that i am running DX9 and DS runs great....i even think it might look better...
i have had no problems, but from what i have heard, if you are running anything below XP, you do not want to install it.

Since this game uses DX8 functions, DX9 should not make a huge impact on it. It definitely should not cause it to stop working on any platform. There are optimizations but nothing that would cause it to stop working altogether on a DX8 game. Games using DX9 functions (none so far) on the other hand could experience problems since DX9 is so new but other than being slightly faster (moderately faster depending on your video card and drivers), there should be no difference on older games.

DX (DirectX)9 from microsoft, the newest link between your hardware and your software, should run smooth on any "modern" OS from MS
in my case, no problem on
- a WIN98-system (SE)
- a WIN 2000 (pro)-system
- a WIN XP (pro)-system
trust a beta-tester, it works nice
and i can second zel - no (big) difference for DS

WinME here, and if anything Ive seen a 20 to 30% increase in general performance of my vid card (Geforce 2 MX400 64MB) in all my games, and DS does look crisper and runs a bit faster, id say about a 10% increase in speed there.
