Just got a GF4 Ti 2400 MX, all games work with it accept DS

Whenever i start DS it gives: An unknown error has occured.

This sucks prtty hard cus the GF was expensive and i cant change.

So any solutions for this? I spend most of time in DS and i would hate to leave it just cus it doesnt work with this game.

I have the latest drivers, the newest Directx so that cant be a problem.
And i tryed all diffrent settings, didnt help.

it's in the Display Properties | Settings | Advanced button... there should be some Gf4 tabs there where you can dig through to find the FSAA settings... i also enable the Nvidia tray icon so i can easily change FSAA on the fly and any other settings i have have setup... but you'll need to turn it off or have it set to Application controlled to play DS...

btw what do you have? a gf4 4200 or a gf4 MX 420? cause the listing of your card model is bad... [GF4 Ti 2400 MX]

personally IMO i'd have stayed away from the GF4 MX versions... they are just advanced GF2s... they don't even have hardware shaders that most newer directx 8.x/opengl games use today, just software support... it would've been better to get a gf3 ti 200 as the performance would be slighty greater but with all the added hardware features and probably about same or lesser price... only reason i'd get a gf4 MX would be cause of the dual monitor support for a business environment for 2D apps...

however i guess being over in EU you don't really have too many choices (pending hardware in stock) and the prices are probably more expensive, so your options are different... here in North America the gf4 Ti 4200 are an excellent price vs performance buy... but i guess if you like it, whatever makes you happy...

2 words

never heard about a GeF4 - labeled 2400MX

in my current state of information, no GeF4-MX can handle DX8 - and DS need DX-8

the gf4 MX does support DirectX 8.x just not all the features in hardware... like the pixel shaders are all software driven just like the GF2 had some software shaders... that's why the MX performance is so bad...

also you might wanna get the new 40.41 drivers straight from nvidia's site... the first release had some bugs in the panels pertaining to the DirectX Texture Anisotropic Filtering Slider and a few other small bugs... and alittle afterwards they re-released the 40.41 beta drivers that are supposed to cover these problems...

Well Barthezz, DS won't run here whenever I have a higher DX version then 8.0 installed (though I have no GF, might be something good to tell)

Well i got a Gefore 4 mx 460 and it works a wonder. 200 fps

but the only problem i've ever had was an error with half-life when using open gl.

but ds works great.

also because of my Geforce i can plug my ps2 into my comp .

my card is a Gainward Geforce 4 powerpack 650 XP. which cost my £97 (thats my companys cost price + VAT), well that what the price was about 2 1/2 months ago here in the UK

DarkSpace doesn't really take advanage of any new graphic technology like shaders and other features... so performance for DarkSpace will be alot better on lower spec video cards compared to most newer games...

sure the gf4 MX might work good for less graphically advanced games that don't require alot of raw power, but on newer DirectX 8.x enabled games it'll diffently show it's lack of speed and features... but these days it's not really all about speed it's more on quality... sure i can run Quake3a at 300 FPS at 800x600 but does it look good? what ppl are looking for today in games is quality with Anti-Antialiasing, Anisotropic Filtering, and higher screen resolutions, and this is where the MX diffently shows it's weakness... i really wouldn't call a gf4 MX a gf4, it's more of supped up GF2...

the gainward cards are really nice... i currently own a Gainward 750XP Golden Sample and i've been very happy with it...
