First of all, this was something i replied on the normal forum, figured it didnt fit there, so just took it over here. So dont pay attention to general stuff, read the idea.

I just got an idea, goth, i agree with you on the modding stuff.
However, i like it limitted, really limited. So, NO chance of going to another faction and taking a bunch of things with you. So my idea is, make it so that you can use nearly every device. Then, either make enemies drop 1-2 devices, or, this is something i dont think anyone came up with before, make it that when you capture an enemy planet with a factions hub, you can get that factions technology from that planet, you would need the additional buildings to be put on it by your own faction if it doesnt have any yet, and make it so that you can only get like 5 devices from this planet, and dont make it reset when the planet is recaptured, make it reset if its a new hub.
(So when you build alien tech on a planet, you cant fully do so and it will eventually trigger a SD for the technology production)

hmmm if i remember correctl back in i think the last open dev meeting they said something about faction tech being locked to the hubs....i may be wrong on that tho

Junky, no need for an upgrade all icon as this wont be needed in the new patch.

Beside from caping an planet that have a hub is generaly a good idea, but what about the devices that comes availible when u kill a enemy ship? I think we should be allowed to take those devices and put them on your ship. This would make it more rewarding to take someones devices when u kill them instead of just getting creds for selling "mostly" useless things.

Any 'non-faction' technology will likely be tied to the planets hub, so to use K'Luth tech you will need access to a planet with a K'Luth hub, same for ICC, UGTO, etc. Currently, ships will only drop Resource's, although this could change at some point so that they instead drop "tier 2" resources with a starport decay factor. Such resources might affect planetary morale, production or help to prevent or neutralize random planetary events if present.

How about the theory that another faction's tech taken from a ship will be better/more efficient/more durable than stuff stolen from a colony station's computer? What I mean is yeah, you can neut and cap a lobster planet & get AMJDs & AMEs, but if you kill a Mandy that upgraded at its home planet using K'Luth Engineers, you get a little more UMPH from it...

Or, in simplified terms. Upgrade from other faction's hub == Tier 1. Upgrade from wreckage loot == Tier 2. And they can scale so that stuff from a scout is about the same as hub upgrades, and stuff from a station is a nice little piece of advancement. Doable?
