well ... nothing in ungood against kluth but this is what i see more than often laterly ...
there is fully maxed built (by me or someone else) planet (l3 defence and fighter bases, shields, sensors, 2-3 barracks, maxed out troops status etc) ...
then all of sudden you see alert enemy near that planet ...
ok u take look at map and see nothing, u jump to that planet ... see nothing .... so you say it was someone passing around or kluth and he went away ...
after some minutes planet is captured by kluth ...
well ... may i ask what's the point of building that planet defence then ?
if noone sees there is something bit wrong ... then ... oh welll

hehe, I knew this would happen, its the AC's. Their uncloaking, dropping, then recloaking so fast the defence cant shoot at them. Its like cobing, only with ships, not bombs!

Maybe a planet cloaked ship detector is needed or something like that. Or just have the planet sensors pick em up.

I posted about this some time ago I guess it got lost in all the whining posts.
As I stated before Planets should be able to have Planetary scanners.
(Scanners use to have the ability to slowly draine Kluth ships forcing them to uncloak to regain that energy) I beleive this should be implemented for Planets ONLY.
It would still give the Kluth some time to reach the planet but actually escaping is another whole new Ball game.
Hence the *First Strike Capibility*

but that idea have one flaw ...
kluth get easy to planet and easy drop tropps ...
thus "problem" with escaping is just question of time before planet is "captured"...
so it's quite big flaw ....

Easy, only allow kluth to unload if they have been uncloaked for say 10 seconds.
Or give transports a cloak2 device.

perhaps the "old" cloak should be used on trannies, and the new cloak on dessies and higher?
Let the trannies have the cloak that is effected by eccm and planetary sensors. Just like they currently have in the release. Same with frigates. Then make the new cloak standard on Destroyer class and above. Seems it would solve most of it.
Just an idea.
Oh, and you may wanna make it so they can't mod one for the other, so no sneaky petes get any bright ideas.

Actually During the times of Scanners affecting energy use while cloaked was pretty decent
energy loss would start well outside planet defenses. by the time you to 400 gu from p-lanet you had no option but to uncloak doto your out of juice. I do beleive the range of this effect was well over 2k GU

we dont want to make it impossible for the Kluth to Cap planets either.
IT would Be a SIN to do so...........

i'm not sure how that is any differant than an ECM drop on a planet..
and... i don't think any one luth ship carries enough inf to take a planet nor do 3 ships if they are full of inf.
and a luth ship cannot jump while cloaked so it's not like they can drop cloak leave and come back instantly.
this is beta right? so perhaps the person/ppl that capped said planet should inform the rest of us how they did it so we can look at that tactic in a manner that'll help determine the proper way to combat it. lets not assume it was sooo easy that it's some uber feature luth have over planets.
