Ok we need to update the key mappings, someone said they were going to get a list together of the current key maps and then a list of proposed changes to device hotkeys to me, that was over a month ago and i still dont have it.
I leave for camping trip with my boat tomarrow morning early so wont be around this weekend... Therefore, its 2pm (PST - California), if someone posts the relevant information to this thread before 8pm (PST) then I can make the changes to the hot key maps this evening in time for this weekends beta test.

Without going in game I would just like to offer this base guide to what they all SHOULD be... will check back after I go IG in a few minutes.
1 - torps
2 - missiles
3 - cannons
4 - heavy beams
5 - light beams
I don't really think that things like bombs & fighters need secondary hotkeys by default, but thats just me
Will update with what I see & what I think they should be after I get IG after updating.

Maybe CL on 1 then the rest follow? as coeus stated.
1 -> HvyCL+LightCL/cannon slot ( like particle, psi...)
2 -> Torps/missle slot
3 -> Cannon Slot (QST, ION ect..)
4 -> Other Special Types?
--------
Just a little side note: Maybe in the future we can map our own to suit our comfort and way of combat? with support of reseting default.

Possibly, I'm just thinking this: When I get in a ship, the first thing I do is set my torps to 1) because I'll have to manually detonate them more often than not in a fast fight. I don't often manually fire CLs unless I'm holding back on a certain weapon (such as torps for energy conservation or to avoid FF)
So maybe:
1) Torps
2) Cannons
3) CL Heavy
4) CL Light
5) Missiles
I put the cannons up by the torps because when I'm manually deting torps, I often am firing cannons too, and holding back on spacebar mashing so I don't accidently launch another wave of torps that I'm gonna have to blow up in my face to get the prox damage from the 1st wave.

what bob said.
thing with weapon groups is they're pretty much personal preferance. my own groups depend on what ship im flying but its usually cannons on 1, beams on 2, torps on 3 and missiles on 4. builds are 8,9, reloads are 4 and 5, ...

1 cannons
2 torps
3 misc
4 EW
5 SCL's
6 HCL's
Defaults should be the same as 1.480-1-2

right, dont mess with the defaults. better yet, no default weapons groups. vets will know enough to set up groups to their own preferances, and newbies can/will learn
and put the keybind options back in while you're at it, if nothing else its a handy referance guide for newbies
(why'd that get taken out in the first place?)

Ok none of this helped...
The numbers are player assigned groupings...
I was looking for the keys like V, K, Y, etc for various devices...
