Hi, I just downloaded the beta client, installed and ran it. It got into the lobby fine, but when i went to join Jupiter the game just CTDs with no error.

Each subsequent attempt to load the game gives the error:

Darkspace.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ??1String@Medusa@@QAE@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library Standard.dll

this happens each time, doesnt reach the lobby or anywhere. If i reinstall the game it updates, goes to the lobby, but when I try to load jupiter the same thing happens- CTD, and new load attempts give that error.

Any ideas ?

Yup. it's a know problem with the beta. Fix is listed in the beta guide and I have pasted the info below:-

Quote:

1.2 Installation
Install the DarkSpaceBeta.exe file and run it like you normally would with the Darkspace Release.

There is currently a small issue on some systems with the automatic update function not completing properly on a fresh install. This occurs if you try to enter a server before manually pressing the update button and is usually diagnosed with the following error:-

The procedure entry point ?start@Process@Medusa@@SAPAXPBD@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library Standard.dll."

The solution is to uninstall the beta client, delete the beta directory and then reinstall. Once you log in and get to the Lobby, click the UPDATE button at the top of the screen before trying to enter the game server. Once update is completed you should be able to run the game normally.

Nice, but 2 problems.

1. I have had it installed. When I ran it today, on the update on execution, that is when I got the error.

2. I did uninstall, delete directory, download, install. Same error on execution.

I can not get to the lobby in the first place to update.

It worked fine last night. Broken this morning. Seams that something server side changed?

On fresh install; on execution of program; it updates itself upto a point. Then it says it can not finish the update process, with a popup 'would I like to restart to complete the update?'. Yes restarts the PC and it tries to finish the update with no messages as to sucess or not. No stops the program.

Either way when I try to run Beta I get that dll error message. Never get to lobby.

You have to reboot when the auto updater asks you to do update those files Doran.

But I did, and I still got the error. I smell a curropt upload.

I have been playing about a little and I think I have a workaround.

Go to the DarkSpace beta install directory and run the gcql.exe program. This should enable you to get to the lobby. Once you are in the lobby then click the UPDATE button and it should update properly.

Ok yeah, that works.

THough i definately believe the original download ought to be fixed.

As a side note, the fore railgun on the ICC Assault frigate fires considerably slower than the two side cannons on the same ship. as far as i can tell its the same gun, so whats going on there ?

but, im liking what ive seen so far, hope i can get my pres switched before the weekend

The railgun issue is because the weapons have different levels.

The slower firing one does more damage per shot and has longer range, but requires more energy to fire.
