I e-mailed my favourite Aussie gaming mag to see what they wanted to see in reviews and they said: We get a lot of letter every month asking how they can do some freelance work for Hyper. The answer is simple-write something for us, make sure it is interesting and send it to the editor. some other stuff..... then: If your're serious write a feature on something cool, go out and get an INTERVIEW with someone interesting..... Surprise us make us laugh etc.
Now I was wondering If about a month and a half before the release of the next patch people who want to do this sort of thing could get an interview with Big F or some other prominant DS personality (hellza need not apply) That way we could get the interview (or something else if you have a better suggestion) into the mags/websites in time to capitalise on the free trial.
What do you think?

I think some promotion for the new patch would be a good idea.

I think an admin or perhaps a Mod should write the review.

Something you often don't get is the whole a a dev team there to answer questions.
Something that would be interesting to see in a magazine is the process of the actual game development. The ideas and how you decide something doesn't work and that it needs changing.
To try and understand why sometimes the DEVs come up with really frustrating ideas that get into the game and no one seems to like, but actually are essential for balance.
You rarely see articles like this.

Hi Jack,
Thanks a lot for the tip-off. We'll definitely take a look at it.
Cheers,

Dear PCG,
A few years ago, you featured in your "Slipping" area the mag (I cant remember the exact issue, its somewhere in the toilet under all the other PCG mag's), BB-BI:DarkSpace. Unfortunatly, UBI baught out Blue Byte and decided to scrap DarkSpace. I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing it as the lead developer and publisher of the game (Faustus aka Richard Lyle) baught DarkSpace back off Blue Byte (as some of the content had been given to DarkSpace from BB), and has been working on it for a few years now (since 2001).
Just thought I'd let you know, its still around, if your interested take a look at the website and contact Richard for more info. It would be great to see it get a review it should have had years ago. Also for a note, version 1.483 is in beta, which is free to play and features a massive overhaul of all the ships etc.

More emails from PCGamer UK...
Hi Jack. Good to hear about DarkSpace being resurrected. Can we put the free version on our coverdiscs?
Thanks.

I told them to email you Faustus, as its not my game, nor my call to say whether they can put the game on their cover disks (although the magazine is the top pc games magazine in the UK, and read by a lot of people).
Hope this can be of some use, and im not breaking any rules or what not.
Oh...you might want to mention beta.

Brilliant idea. I'll be sure to save, cherish, laminate, and tonguewash that copy of PC Gamer, for it has the game that I share the closest connection by far. I would go into detail about what DS has done for my persona, but I tend to ramble. Anyway, seems like a great idea Scottn and BackSlash. Look forward to its success.
I might try to see if EGM would take it (probably not).

PS: Maybe not tonguewashing.

Is anything happening about this? It appears that beta is getting closer to release and HYPER has informed me that they have a cover disc coming up and if I have something good enough they'll put it on there.
Some information would be appreciated
