I'm seeing a lot of threads already discussing potential changes to the cloak (and the rest of the game) and how it seems to be working, etc. As such, at this time I think it's important to restate something that we have been telling the players all along.

Two things:
a) 1.483 is going to be a complete rework of this game's combat and balance mechanic.
b) 1.483 is nowhere near fully uploaded to the beta servers.

As such, we would very respectfully like to remind all beta testers to reserve judgment on all changes posted to beta thus far, as 1.483 is an all-encompassing patch. What this means is that changes to certain aspects of gameplay that may not have had any effect on OTHER aspects in earlier versions of the game, may now have ramifications against those other aspects in 1.483. In short, the cloak revamp is one piece of a much greater whole and there is currently no way to judge how it will affect the rest of gameplay as you still don't know how the rest of that gameplay itself is going to work. I know, and we know, that most of you know this.

It is of capital importance, however, that you keep this knowledge in mind at all times when discussing the beta as it is thus far in the forums. Therefore, I am reminding you.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we continue to bring more 1.483 goodness to you.

I apologise if this has been stated before, but bear with me as i am a dumb blonde nurse. (seriously) But i feel its an important question.
Is beta going to supercede the current DS or work alongside. If it is going to supercede, do you have an inception date. If not supercedeing then what are the plans to increase the player base?
I might just add that after playing on beta yesterday, it does seem all that i would have hoped in ship ugrades etc. (albeit limited to a frigate).

Yes, once completed beta will supercede the release version of DarkSpace.
