Okay, found a way to have people test the first pass of the FX upgrade.
Find the file here, or here for the UK.
Instructions on what to do with this file are contained in instructions.txt, within the file.
Post commentary, ideas, etc. here. I'm a big boy, so you won't hurt my feelings.
Constructive criticizm welcome.
PS, thanks to kenetiks and BackSlash for hosting the file.

The Trial effect for the drives should be changed a little...the effect is nice and all but it just doesnt feel ds. Maybe two extra ribbons could be drawn making it seem more rounded?? or maybe even more ribbons...

Trying it out, so far looks nifty, but I haven't gotten THAT good a look...
One problem I found out early on: Launching Beacons crashes the game. -_-

nah it doesnt...I did that earlier....it just crashes randomly for some reason sometimes.

The shield hit looks a little too cartoony atm (but still awesome)... I think it would be much better if the transparency would increase the farther you move away from the spot of the hit.
I love the torps and explosions... can't get enough of those things firing.
The railguns remind me of the regular cannons in EV Nova, while the gauss guns look like the fusion cannons from EV Nova. Not that that's bad...
Particle cannons look nice too, haven't seen the psi cannons.
Nebulas look awesome! Other people I was fooling around with said it lagged their FPS though...
Overall, awesome job. Can't wait for more!

Changed the shield FX.
You can turn down the nebuals with either the Particle Effects slider, or with the Texture Detail slider. Turning Texture Detail to low turns the particles for the nebulas completely off.
