Some suggestions for etiquette on Beta Server. |

1 Remember this is a Beta test server. It's primary purpose is to facilitate *testing*; the smoother the testing goes the quicker the software will go live and the better for everybody.
2 If you see an enemy ship or planet don't *automatically* attack it. Consider what is the player doing and why ? If it is not obvious ask.
3 Just because a friendly ship and an enemy ship are standing toe to toe exchanging shots, don't assume you can join it. They could be doing a controlled test of the relative strength and therefore game balance of various weapons. By adding damage you could have disrupted the test, requiring either or both players to get repaired and start again.
4 Don't assume you should bomb or invade any enemy planet you see, just because a planet is enemy and a team mate is bombing or invading it does not make it fair game. This could easily be a controlled test, coordinated be two players.
5 Just because you see an enemy planet that appears vulnerable do not assume it is an easy target to be capped or bombed. This is especially likely to be the case where a planet has an unusual configuration. The player is probably testing or exploring some build issue, by bombing the planet you could have set that's players test back a lot.
6 Pay close attention to messages from other players, even enemy players.
7 If a player asks you to stop doing something then stop, even if they are an enemy player.
8 If a player ask you to do something, if possible do it, even if they are an enemy player.
9 Experience gained will be lost when it goes live, none will be carried forward.
10 Planets systems gained will not be kept, the MV will be reset when the beta s/w goes live.
11 By following these suggestions you have not lost anything.
12 By ignoring these suggestions you will not of gained anything, you have probably just delayed the launch some.
These are just my thoughts, feel free to offer more suggetions.

Rule #13..If you mess with an Admin/Developer in beta and disrupt what they are doing, dont be surprized to find yourself within a star, or having 30 Gaifens appear, surround you and start chewing on your ship...

Wyke, i aplaud your efforts. But what do these ruls have to do with the price of tea in china?
example, I went to the Beta the other day and was bombing rather stupidly built worlds ( Stupidly = built by newbs ). So i continue bombing in order to Test a bug/exploit in the bombing. then i get messaged spamed to Not bomb any UGTO planets because for these 3 reasons,
reason 1, The ugto have been put upon and i shouldnt "pick on them"
reason 2, My prior friendship with this player means i cant bomb the team he is now on.
reason 3, Because there is a Truce
Now i fully understand that this is the BETA, and things are to be tested in a Beta.
But dont forget that if your testing something thats going to take you a long time to test, you may want to get a few more people involved in your test. For instance, i found some new player and asked him if he would like to test out this Bomb bug with me on a planet with a sheild gen. Now thats what people have to do if they need more help with there project, they should recruit new players and teach them about what there doing INSTEAD of leaving them out alone in the cold wondering what the heck is going on. Another Reason is that since alot of people DONT read the forums and just are DownLoading this Version of the game to SEE IF They should pay, because it says on the www.darkspace.net 1481enters open beta testing YOU ARE GOING TO GET PEOPLE IN THERE WITH NO GOD DAM IDEA ON EVEN HOW TO PLAY. you wana make some rules more power to ya .... because the only way to get someting done right is to do it your self, or in this case with a armed escort.

Bump.
Could this thread be stuck to the top by a forum admin pls.
There are still plenty of players ignoring this. The last three times ive tried to test something on the Beta its been disrupted by noobs that seem unable grasp the concept of a what a test server is. I spent more time trying to explain what a test server is than testing.
Perhaps the Admins should start kicking the disruptive elements from the beta.
