These are the current maps we have put up for testing on FA2. Criticism is welcome, make sure the mapname is at the top of your post:

Round 2:
Andromeda
CD9573
DarkstarCluster
EpsidonEri
EpsilonAndromeda
Formalhaut
GammaDraconis
Jenin
KirianRa
Thor

Please keep the criticism to possitive feedback on the maps. (Post sugestions on how things can be changed to make it better for the MV without disrespecting the Map author, keep it clean and possitive)

Map Rules:

1. Maps must have all resources found within it.

2. No planets with a orbit speed of 100 gu/s or more.

3. No Colonizable planet with a speed faster than 4 gu/s."

4. Planets, no more than 15 gu/s if it does have a satillite."

5. Stars, up to 100 gu/s so you can do a pulsar binary combo."

6. Minimum distance between planets is 150 gu/s

7. No more than 50 asteroids in one place, and not more than 130 on the whole map

8. Any and all jumpgate positions will not be final the positioning of jumpgates will be determined later.

9. All submissions become the property of PaleStar and are subject to modification if needed.

Dont be surprized if you see some of these maps a little different in the MV...

*Edit* Added the Map Rules

CD9573

Would it be possible for Palestar to send the copy of this map to me? I'm pretty sure I was the one who made it, but my Hard drive got reformatted, so I no longer have it.
Email Address is Baikon@Hotmail.com
Oh, and I think it was CD*9573

CD*9573

I have spotted a bug, that could possibly cause problems.

The gas giant has the same name as the star.
CD*9573
Just change it to CD*9573 A or C
If you change it to A, you will have to change the other 2 planets to "B" and "C". If you do not wish to do this, I can come up with 3 more names on the spot, just ask me.
Heres one already, for the gas giant
Toran.

I stand by my words, the 2 maps i played are not suited for the MV, and the authors probably did not spend more than half an hour on them.

the "Andromeda" map might actually be fixable, but i dont see how "Epsilon Andromeda" could be made into something for the MV. the whole concept it is based on doesnt work out for the MV, its bad enough in scenario.

My original post was no flame. I clearly pointed out the flaws the maps have. Thank you for locking it anyhow, since i didnt know the maps were still to be edited and the news posted made it seem like they were going into the MV in that form, its point has become moot.

I'll be making some more maps for you guys, but i'd like to see

- a few guidelines for MV maps (naming conventions, size/planets, cluster size recommendations etc..)

- recommendations for orbit speed and yaw axis rotation speed

Ok, ive played CD*whatever.

While overall a good map (yay!) it shows a tendency towards fertile satellites of the large terran planets. A moon with atmosphere and water just doesnt seem right.
While physically not impossible, if the moon is far enough away from the mass center it orbits, it is probably one of the rarest occurences in the universe.

Other than that, a well-made map, diverse, no wierd stuff, a good assortment of resources and planet types.

A few of the orbit paths might be a bit close together when the planets actually start moving in the MV. That should be easy to fix.

IMHO any satellites should also be of a smaller size (i.e. no large planets orbiting a large planet) than their parent (that is not in the map, just saying)

Formalhaut:

The ICC Jumpgate is not owned by the ICC, but is NEUTRAL!

Wow. My map is on there. Kirian Ra? Has it been played by anyone and if so, what did you think? Honesty is encouraged. I personally like the map, but then again I made it.

Formalhaut: the second good map.

the concept here are several moderate clusters far away from each other with gas giants as center planets.
a small star (why cant we have glowing half-sun gas giants a bit larger than jupiter?) lights up the outmost cluster.

only 3 things: some of the planets should probably be moved an additional 500 gu away from the gas giant, and again, some orbit paths nearly overlap, which might become important when the map is for a long time and the planets "overtake" each other.

the distance between the individual clusters seems to large if the map is integrated in the MV, it would be covering a very huge area of the map.
it could be modified without affecting the original concept by reducing the distances, especially of the 3 outmost clusters, by about 1/3 of the current distance, and spreading them out a bit more around the sun.

Jenin System: Not bad. Something different.

typo: planet name "Gaurdian" should probably be "Guardian"

The clusters: This time its really a lot of orbits that almost overlap, especially in:

The Colar cluster: It is FAR to DENSE. Really. That needs to be changed.
I mean, come on. 500 gu average planet distance?

The planet "Hayward" should be moved to a higher orbit by about 1000 gu.

The planets "Senio" and "Guardian" are not orbitting.

The planet "Guardian" should probably get metals.

Resources are a bit to sparse. While i dont think every system should be resource-rich, this is a little to little. Is there really no Hypermatter?

The Orbit speeds are to fast.

Overall, the planets are to spread out.

the planet "Blacho" is orbiting a nothing. whats the point of it anyways?

R33*8710?

This map will be included once I receive it. (Demo Email it to me)

Right now this is Round 2 of the maps. I have already put out round 1 for FA style play, and this was 2. Going to start working on Round 3...

There are a little over 50 maps altogether, and I am editing them in sections due to the workload.

*Note* The Editing I have done was to get the maps to cycle through (Including Flag planets), Gate insertion, Major Correction if something is in need of fixing to get it to work, and General Naming (Usually takes the longest)

And this isn't even a total rehash and design concept fit that will be taking place once I get done putting them to FA style play for testing purposes.

Questions, Comments, Please send them to me.

@Baikon: Sure, I will send it out once I get time (prob sometime tonight)

@Sono: See me for specifics, all the maps that were submitted through the contest are based on the rules posted in the Contest thread ( http://www.darkspace.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=13516&forum=45&46 )

@Wolfram: Actually, its supposed to be `Fomalhaut`, but I probably mistyped it/it was written wrong somewhere(Easy to happen with the workload I had at the time)

@Everyone that replied: Thanks for the comments/bugs, I will make sure to catch them all in the MV Edit
