I think we should have a new laser, shaped almost like a tear drop because the current one looks wierd. It is like some kind of luminous balls.
.
So what do you think

I think he means something like this?
1st one is the proposal, 2nd one is the current design.
Or maybe he means for a tear drop to only apply at the very start of the beam and then extend as usual. [ This Message was edited by: PsyCrow on 2013-05-18 12:22 ]

I have a 2W 445nm laser and it when focused starts wide and ends needle tip sized on target. But, the reflections and scatter light still give off a star around the end point. So, real life it looks like both images... But, in space there isnt all those air particles so you wouldnt even see the beam...

Makes no sense for a beam to be teardrop shaped...
It is what it is.

Hell no... It has a custom current limiting driver and milled heatsink in an Aurora sh-032 flashlight stainless steel host with a 95% pass through focus lens with a custom focus adapter, running on an 18650 Li-Ion battery with 3400mAh. The forward voltage is 3.6-4.2 and the current is set at 1.78 amps. The diode is from a Ka$1o Laser projector and so is the 9mm stock lens. This thing can burn an Arctic from WL...
I made the Phaser for my Father in Law also and it has a complete sound board for effects...

Nice... custom made. You've gotta teach me how to make something like that with parts that can be cannibalized off consumer available products!
I've always wanted to make myself a 5W laser.

The first one looks like a particle cannon bolt.
