Now we are all aware that the game is rather quiet these days for whatever reasons (this is not a thread for discussing the why just how to help)
so why not bring in a recruitment programe, referals and such.
each player you refer and plays for say 2 days+(?) is rewarded with say 300 credits(?)
Play time as in time spent ingame not account age to cut down on spamming of accounts.
this way more people join, people who other wise might be restricted to their ENH choices will be able to try out more powerfull ones and should they break they need only recruit more players which is win win no?

My personal preference would be that the referee gets a permanent 5% value of all the credits their referrals buy.
If the referred player buys 10000 credits, the referee gets 500, etc. I mentioned this to to some of the other Staff quite recently, or I thought about it and forgot to mention it. One of the two.

thats still too small a gap, and it also depends on wealth of the player (i know its not a lot but still) and im sure you would understand the more Instant gratification from gaining 300 so Creds instead of building up, slowly leeching off the purchses of a friend/referal.
also if someone feels the need for a new ENH yet cannot spend the money on it they can recruit others, if they can buy creds or recruit others in turn the system can continue on with the game beneffiting.
the only problem would be cracking down on abuse of the system hence the two days required game play.

A straight credit award is far too open to abuse. I could simply create 30 clones and end up with 9000 free credits after two days.

The idea sounds very good.
I change the credit system.
The credit should be a function of the referred player ranking.
That way no clones could be used to play as they would have necessarily to go up in the rankings.
This type with a limit no more payment from Vice Admiral
Example:
Midshipman: 0 Credits (prevents clones)
Ensign: 5 Credits
2nd Lieutenant: 10 Credits
1st Lieutenant: 15 Credits
Lieutenant Commander: 20 Credits
Commander: 30 Credits
Captain: 40 Credits
2nd Rear Admiral: 50 Credits
1st Rear Admiral: 60 Credits
Vice Admiral: 70 Credits
The same total (300), but the player remains in the game.
And if he remain playing there are good probabilities he buy credits for enhancements. Results win win

It sounds good max, but i think to many players would abuse that system.
Ive seen it happen in other games and its not pretty. Many of the honest players just quit the game and the community sufferd.
Most free games like this have events where the community comes up with banners, posters, recuritment videos, things of that nature and after the community votes the winners get "rewards" creidts in our case.

I like this idea although it will need to be scripted to take demoting into account.
and we can allways add rewards for the other ranks should the need arise.
-----
yes thats what i mean by 48 hours play time. gonna have to spend actual time. and if thats not long enough why not up it?

I used to play a game that uses a system like this, although it had lvls and when your referral got to lvl 7 you were rewarded with some nice items, me and some friends abused this system to get free premium membership and some other items. something like this could be implemented into DS as it has a ranking system which means you actually have to play for a fair amount of time, in the other game, mentioned above, me and my friends made 1 clone to lvl 7 in about an hour.
With darkspace the credits could be rewarded when the referral gets to a certain rank, say.. 1st rear or VA, yes you could make a clone and bash it for 3 days to get like... 300-500 creds but the reward is not substantial enough for people to do that, it would be easier to get a bunch of friends in harrier frigs and spam at icc stats... wouldn't it?
thats my thoughs, peace -apoc-

This still invites the least abuse.

But you could create a clone and buy credits on that account, transfer them to your main, and also get a 5% bonus...
But you'd still get some money, so everybody wins ?
