scenarios are not that exciting...
i mean you start with no planets on your faction...you cap and build them which will take about half the time of the map...then nothing at all.
you just pick a cruiser or dread and you kill AI's.
so can you give scenarios something to make them exciting? missions would be nice...
like a big trade station and you need to cap it..
or a fully prepared and defended planet cluster which revolted or got capped by MI's and you need to re-cap it.
i would like to know what you think of this and i would like to know what are your suggestions to more exciting scenarios

Yes, it would be really cool if the devs released a spreadsheet or something that could be used to submit new scenario maps...

Scenario used to be quite fun with a lot of activity but sadly the (not so) new resource system killed the game type and the new planet capture system probably didn't help much either.

Only my humble opinion
I think, any change in the scenary is a mistake.
Scenary is for newbies. There they learn basic questions.
In MV they never learn how to build in a planet.
If they begin in "MV", they die to easy, and lose the desire to play.
In fact, should be limited, to prevent high-ranking players will go there and bother newbies.
We know, many high rank players go to scenary to obtain kills and medals.
No one with rank below admiral should be able to enter the scenario

I think that is a really bad way to look at it. Scenario can be a good place for new players to learn the game but it can also be a fast paced alternative game mode with distinct differences from the MV that is fun to play by players of all levels. We have a rank locked server, it is called Rogens Rift - which was a bad idea in my opinion because it is not very easy for Newbies to find.
As it is now Scenario is mostly just shooting AI and that gets boring real quickly, you can not attract new players by telling them to go sit in an empty server.

i have a nice strategy to take the scenario easlly
after 2 or 3 times with the same strategy , scenario no longer fun
strategy for scenario
1 - enter with and engi
2 - build 1 or 2 planets with 15/20 barracks each
3 - grab the Transport and cap all the rest
.......... boring after 2 or 3 scenarios.....
X
Ps: i have some ideias for new scenarios , need to organize all ideas and someday i will post it here

i think that scen res gathering should be increased or the time extended or else its kinda pointless (tho flying small ships is fun)

so i guess tools are avalable...i wont try it yet, cuz i have lots of more important work on my hands...like exams and shööt. then we can make a scenario for newbies and real scenario games.
geja you seem to be closer to the dev team and know a bit more technical staff than we ordinary mortals. does game have any code implemented that could be used to put in stuff like...static objects, damaged dread that need to be defended, or big ass freighters, asteroid bases. and stuff that moves...like incoming asteroids, big planet killer rockets. i know that some ideas might put additional strain on the server, but there's always a way
or maybe the real scenario thing would not be in progress all the time like its now, but it would start when any player would want to start to play it. and if he leaves.. game will eventualy end cuz either one objective is done for one team (if it incoming missiles that team a defens and team b tries to shoot down - style). and no time limit, unless the scenario requres it.

The day shipyards were introduced was the day scenario was no longer much fun.
Scenario used to be packed, with both or all three teams fighting over the key planets. It was the "complete" game where you had to do everything, vs the MV which is just combat.
I haven't even been in scenario since the new planet system. I can't imagine it's any fun at all.

It's not about map layouts.
Scen is boring because you have a time limit, and you start from scratch. So the only objective is to build up your planets to spawn the huginormous so that you can destructify the enemy before the clock runs out.
Every map it's the same.
What the threadstarter is suggesting is that there are different scenarios.
How about Sol:
Starting scenario:
UGTO holds Sol and the inner system. They have SYs on Mars, Earth.
ICC holds Neptune and UrAnus and have a single working SY there.
Objective is to cap Earth only. Doesn't matter if Mars is intact.
Some juicy bits like: Players are limited to 5 respawns... etc.
Something different for a change.

I like the respawn limit. But maybe something more forgiving like: instead of their destroyed ship going back to SY with 5% hull, it gets deleted. That way the res is lost.
If the SY is already built, all that is needed is supporting planets to mine res for it. Each team would be victorious based on resource management as much as tactics. It would even make capturing "Unwanted" barrens that have full mining bases set up. If one team gets enough of them, they can just station steamroll.
