now obviously this will only pertain to ICC because its cannons use ammo. The idea is to be able to move ammo around your ship say from rear to front where your main guns and where you will be doing the most shooting. was thinking something like Shift+ AWSD for the directions. Now it would not work between cannon types (Ie Rail and Gause).

I think this is a good idea, even though I'm UGTO. Sometimes I wish I could move my QST ammo around, especially in my EAD.

I think what you guys are really asking for is a single ammo stat - that is, every gun of a type takes ammo from a single 'pool' of that ammo for that gun type.

Sounds good enough, instead of having 80 shots per gun it would be a single 480 shared pool for 6 guns (example). Probably easier coding.

who knows it may work better at freeing up server processing then say NERFING THE DEFENCES BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN"T BE BOTHERED EDITING A FEW SETTINGS OR BUYING A NEW GRAPHICS PROCESSOR.
considering i get the same amount of lag arround planets that i did before the nerfing it was kinda pointless.
mind you i don't run 128/256/512 graphic cards on settings that they can't run very well in large fights.
if you want to run max settings get a duel core processor and a decent graphic card example a graphics card with 1gb of ram in it with a good graphic processing speed.
other wise start asking for a graphic nerf i for one couldn't care about a graphics nerf it just allow me to raise my settings.
oh i am sorry i must have rambled a bit.

Wished I could do that on a flight sim.
480 rounds in my Vulcan cannon. 4 air-to-air missiles. I'll just transfer the ammo to the missiles and I have 484 air-to-air missiles. Who needs the Vulcan.

Yes, it would make sense that instead of having 23 rounds per gun for 10 guns, you would just have a central storage of 230 rounds.

Why not simply make all weapons of a certain type draw from the same pool of ammo?
So you'd have 600 rounds flat out (or however much the combination of all guns ammo would be now for a set number of railguns on a ship), and when you fire those guns draw from the same pool. No moving ammo around, always have ammo to shoot, nothing overly complicated.
Useful for just about any ship with multiple arcs and some kind of gadget that takes ammo. At last all those shots will get fired.

Doing this would probably require a slight reduction in individual ammo counts, since it slightly reduces the balance behind different arcs (they're predominantly used to limit the number of simultaneous fires, of course, but ammo plays a small role as well). But I personally don't have an issue with it.
But as with most things, it may be Too Much Work (for too little gain)™.

This isn't a totally stupid idea, since in reality warships typically feed their weapons from centralised magazines (although there's not necessarily one single magazine feeding all of the weapons).
However, this would present programming difficulties since currently I believe ammo is tracked on a per-device basis, and a new system would have to be developed. This would fall foul of the problem of the amount of effort required for the amount of payoff achieved.

i highly doubt people will PAY for extra ammo storage that may or may not do them any good when you can just as easily ask for a supply ship to stay near the fleet.
ammo refills faster then repairs when theirs a supply
