IDEA: Small improvements, perhaps? |

So I was playing another game... And I think it'd be fun if you could select coordinates and order a "Follow", "Defend" or "Move To" command or something similar to allied craft. It'd make coordination a bit easier, set rally points and more of that sort of stuff.
Another thing I'd like to request is a /velocity command to fineset your ship's velocity. I understand there's some difficulty when people input a number that your ship cannot attain, and that the different engines would change this max... But it'd make it a hell of a lot easier to attain specific speeds, such as the break-even point where you neither gain nor lose energy for some ships.

I've always thought this game would be alot better with waypoints (Fleets?)

Theres plenty of small improvements (well, small in terms of our visibility, it may be heug coding wise).
I'd like to see a more detailed nav map personally (color coded star systems, planets, ships), smaller buttons for ships and planets (and possibly smaller text with it).
Also seeing a change for the great green and red blobs it color coded to color coded terriorital 'blocks' that represent the planets 'territory, in total covering entire systems would be incredibly neat (and a good indicator of when a star system is about to become owned by another faction). This works with a true distinction of planets and their moons (rather than everything being classified as a planet).
More GUI indicators could never hurt either (like, yellow triangles point down on ships with repair distress signals, red for being attacked signals. Same for planets.) Seeing an area around a planet turning yellow or other hot color when a battle is taking place there (alot better than barely visible red rings). Some sort of indicator that tells us that a planet is blockaded would be nice too.
Seeing how many friendly players (and confirmed enemy players) are in a starsystem from the ship selection screen (and Nav Map) would be incredibly useful too.
Aside from those few (many) things, I'd also like to see a real point to a faction gaining control of a star system. It would give a greater emphasis on actually taking hold of an entire system. Things like gate control, greater resources (though like we really need that with how many systems and planets there are), platforms cost less to construct, and countless other things. Owning a planets specific 'territory' could allow the same sort of benefits (a planets territory specifically around a gate for example).
In general, just giving the idea of of owning systems and planets more weight.
I'd personally also like to see a smoother and less simplistic looking GUI, but thats probably more than we should hope for.
..and as you can see, we went from small improvements to big changes. All of us have a big wishlist (theres mine!), but alot of them probably wont ever see the light of day and the ones that do probably not until the next version.
Small changes though? Waypoints would be nice in tandem with grouping.

I want to be able to draw on the mv nav map, and be able to see it.
Of course, if other people could see it, that'd be nice, but that'd be abused too much. Unless their was strict moderation on it.

no. just no. we dont need people drawing crude penises that look more like the arby's logo than the intended anatomy.

I know. I thought that immediatly too. Thats why I suggested only yourself can see it. Also being able to "save" a point in space on the nav map would be nice too
edit: actually, saving a point in space would be nice if everybody could see that point with a tag of your name on it. And you would only be able to set like two (or even just 1)
That way, some kind of fleet movement can be coordinated, and you don't ahve people drawing phallus everywhere.

The best part of GuildWars is drawing Arby's logos for all my PUG friends, though...

/velocity command, devs. You know you want to implement it. You also know you want to give us access to drawing phallus all over the MV~!
