Check the beta, all torps and core weapons have lighting for the hit effects. They are supposed to be tinted according to primary effect colour.

imagine a big fleet battle and as you approach the battle you can see the flashes of detonations going of in the distance, realy adds to the mood of the game

Only complaint is that they have to really really be close to your ship or other object for it to show up.
