Well i just had a combat with the icc combat dread with me mandy. Once the CD got hull on me mandy my system went offline due to the Ion. now this aint a big problem, the problem is that the ion shoots at u constant all the time due to the fast recharge time. So practical this means your system will be offline ALL the time. So that means u cant do anything after being hulled.
So what will happen then, well ppl will NEVER stay in a battle and take hull damage because that will make them die coz of :
A) the jump will pretty much all the time be offline.
B) U cant shoot back because all your guns are offline constant.

i have to agree, and UGTO flux is the same way, hit V, and almost all systems go offline, and they started at about 80 hull for me when i fought UGTO.

Actually, I think anything that causes system damage right now is doing way more then what's intended.
It took three hits of Veron's EMP cannons in our duel, and ALL my systems where dead.

It's not just Ions.
It's anything that damages system in the game.

The Ion cannon isn't supposed to be dealing EMP damage anymore - will take a gander at it.
Update: EMP damage on the Ion has now been removed.
For clarification to those who are chanting that it doesn't need removing - we do want the Ion Cannon to have a VERY small amount of EMP damage (1% or less), but at the moment that's not possible without large code changes that have the possibility of extending the release date.
The way it works currently, is we assign a damage flag to a weapons damage output, in this case ENERGY and EMP. This is so that armour types with damage reductions can function, and know how much of the incoming damage to remove. We have no way, currently, to adjust the coeffiecents of a weapons damage types. We had originally intended for Ion Cannons to do a very small amount of EMP damage, but it's just not possible, and in the name of balance we've removed that portion of it's damage.
Sorry if you disagree, but the Ion Cannon was not designed as a giant Flux Cannon - also, we need to take into account that by design, EMP damage at large is a UGTO trait.
I'll take a look at flux wave damage some time tomorrow.
- Jack
