Ive been thinking, would it be possible to personalise your ship names in a way?
eg: Mandi of death (Mandible)

This was brought up Here a while ago.

If it's easy to implement I think it would be a cool feature for .484. If not perhaps look at it a couple patches down. IMO We have lots and lots of great ideas, but I think we need more foucs on getting .484 working and out, and then if possible start adding new ideas.

But then you'd have to either rename your ship every time or suffer from the unrealism, where ships that just got destroyed come back.

JK, I think it would be a good and simple idea.

Mabye, what about a command to change your ship? You have to log on your ship, then type /shipname Mandi of Death

DS forums need search reenabled... to stop repeat suggestions.

Seriously, this ones been going around since before even I started playing. If you look through the old suggestions archive you'll see it repeated a couple dozen times over.

I am not sure I get the idea of a ship name. When I see a vessel, I think "Oh no! It's Leonide!", not "Oh no! It's the Excalibur!".

The vessel name could divulge important vessel information you dont want out there. What if the enemy knows that the Excalibur is modded with all AR missiles and the Revenge is all IT missiles. As soon as they saw your vessel's name, they would know what mod you are flying and be able to overtake your defenses.

Just a counter point. Im not entirely against Ship names. It appeals to me a bit too.

Yes, but as soon as you saw the counter-ship that someone brought out for your ship you'd know how to handle it (IE, pointjump & slam or get the hell outa there).
