This is something that has realy bothered my about Missiles AND fighters in general.

as it stands now Missiles are the "smart" tracking weapons of the game but have 1 real disadvantage that makes them quite well useless on the long range department.
same goes for the fighters by the way since these generally work the same as a missile on they can make more passes if lucky..

when they are fired from max range a lot of the times you target will have left the battlefield, especially when its a big battle you are fighting in as missile support, or in a carriers case with the realy long ranges your target is 80% of the time gone.

now what i propose is that when you pull the trigger on your "long range" weapon * missile/fighters* you get to choose the victim.

now most of the time and im sure all the long range weapon fans agree on this target jumps away or uses the cloak.

with the being done all the pain and hurt you were sending his way is either blowing up in space killing space leprechauns or comming back in the little fighters...

now the part of the idea, when target A is gone make the ordanance switch to the closest hostile target and go after that.
if target B is gone as well then well let em blow up/return home

Fighter AI is slated for a later patch, I'm sure missiles will get sorted around the same time.
