for once. the forums have presented a winning (and logical) idea. the SENSOR fighter, shooting beacons. kinda the way i think sensor bases should attack enemy ships with beacons.
GOOD IDEA.
I also think since they are "early warning" fighters, that we should be able to see ships within 5000 GU around them the same way we see enemies within 5000GU of a player's ship. they could be sent to JGs to keep watch and stuff.

Hmm...my gut reaction is a loud resounding NO! as this sounds like more beacons being put in for no reason. However, upon reflection, I've thought of 2 uses while posting this, which shows there are reasons, and, since the ships would be less common than traditional beacons and couldn't be blind fired to hit cloaked ships (is that even done anymore?) it's not really more beacons.
The only problem I have with this is a continued degrading of the uses of small ships. However since large ships can already mount beacons that's a small problem, I like it. Should see how it does in the beta suggestion forum...
Good idea.

Beacons ONLY on scouts plzthx.
Only way someone will use them, being as weak as they will be in next patch. Who would fly a one-shot-kill ship if you could beacon with larger ships carrying fighters?

I agree with the idea of giving sensor bases a more important role, which include becons and the ability to launch recon fighters. Recon fighters having beacons would be ok in 1.483 but in 1.484 with only scouts being able to beacon, it would defeat the point of a scout. Instead Recon fighters should sort of be a eccm fighter.

Sensor drone works perfectly. They have ECCM on them, just fire them at yourself and they'll orbit you with ECCM, or aim at the enemy player - that way you can always see them.
They work perfectly. If 1.483 tought us anything, it's that fighters spewing out nouns is NOT a good idea.
