Just a quick-pass suggestion depending on how the community responds.
** Please comment your opinion about this and state why. **

-----------------------------------------------------------------

:Structure Maximum:
• small sized Planets = 32 structures (or less)
• medium sized Planets = more
• large = ect..

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I would like to hear what you guys have to say and why, also maybe suggest resonable ammount maximums for each planet size and/or type. I feel as if each planet size should have a resonable structure count proportion.

Well, i kinda agree with you. but i think that medium sized planets should have the normal 32 structures.

Small planets should have around 25. (due to the fact that they are small)
Large planets... maybe a max of 52 or 60.

On the large planets though... defsense should only be alllowed to DEF LVL 18 max, no more. this would stop ppl frm making super uber planets that no one could cap, whilst still enebaling them to have a large planet.

Also introduce a new structure! the planet has to be at 120 research and Either human faction.

TERRAFORM PLANT.

Research: 120
Power: 60
Workers: 20
Rescources: 60,000 (for when the new version comes out)

This structure takes around 10-20 mins (depending on the size of the planet) to terraform it from arid/barren/what ever else (execpt the volcano ones) Into a Terrain planet.

But, if this structure is destoryed before the terroform is complete, it has no power or is short on workers... it stop working and the planet slowly turns back into its arid/barren/etc self.

actully... i think the limit should be the amount of diamonds on each planet!

I was thinking of total diamond ammounts.. However you should take a look at Paurbon or Parcia, I was like, no way.

--
Defense would be an issue (50+ Fighters anyone?) But instead of putting a CAP on the total DEF ammount, maybe have a CAP on the type of structure. So that way on larger planets you can have a nice spread ammount of depots, sensors, fighters, PD/Missle which all account for Defense.

( on an offtopic side note, it would really be nice if the planets where larger in scale compared to the ships. {More planet collisions anyone due to lag?} )

There is a proper reason for the size of the planet's im sure...
but the one that springs to mind is that normal planets are like 300.000 KM in diameter? or something... having a "middle" sized planet at 300.000 gu in idamter is just too large.

I like the idea of a total number of each type of structre... makes more sense then an overall limit.

It's actuallymore a question of balance concerning infantry. Right now there is a hard cap of 32 per faction o neach planet. If you were to increase the number of allowed structures, then the infantry cap woudl have to be increased as well, otherwise you will have a planet that posisbly has over 64 Barracks all producing infantry far faster than they can be destroyed.

There is also the questin of the extra burden that additionally planetary defense might have on the Server.

If the infantry cap scales by planet as well then this would possibly be feasable.

Suggestion:

Tiny - 24 Structures, 24 infantry
Small- 32 Structure, 32 Infantry
Medium - 40 Structures, 40 Infantry
Large - 48 Structures, 48 Infantry
X Large - 56 Structures, 56 Infantry

hmm draf, true, and I like your suggestion. I didn't think about infantry, but I can see its effect now.

Any terraforming would, in my opinion, have to take weeks. Otherwise, within a couple days, the vast majority of planets would be Terran... and that's just no fun.

Perhaps if it took time (as in, three days) to terraform and only stayed terraformed while the building was on there, maybe I could see it working. But generally I think it would just make everything that much more bland and uber.

I agree with shig here, but I'd love to see this idea put into effect. That seems like something that would've been developed in this time period.

But if the terraforming building is destroyed/damaged/inoperable, how fast would the planet become what it once was?

i also agree with shig on this,it should take a few days to terraform and if the terraforming plant is blown up it should go back to whatever it once was, not stay a terren planet,in fact now that i think about it,it should take one day to get a planet to the next lvl of terraforming. i.e:barren one day, next arid all the way to a terran planet and once the plant is detroyed it turns back in the same amount of time.all the planets turning into terrans shouldn't be a problem becuase as i have noticed planets only last few days or less before getting bombed to heck.

we should alsothink of an order for planets to go from the lowest to terran.
