It would add realism, but it would be a pain to have to keep queing up fighters in the factorys for all the planets you own.

Yeah its a great suggestion....

But with Backy's comment, Maybe have a que of up to 15, and have a storage of 15 built fighters...?

or use the auto-queue system from the current barracks. keep cranking out one type (lets say defaults to interceptor) untill someone come along and switches the type.

cant imagine planet based bomber fighters getting much use unless you're in the process of capturing a cluster or getting a cluster capped from you

You could have it go automatically like Doran said, and have them use resources... then if the planet ever runs out of resources, so would your production.
Or have it require one pop for each fighter (pilot), or even use an infantry. So there's a cost and a need for upkeep.

It'd be nice if planets wouldn't by default have an infinite resource supply - not that we want to always be fiddling with them, but something requiring more balanced building and such.
Of course, then you'd have to keep more mines around, plus with the fighter building building, you'd have fewer spots for other things, like defense or a shipyard. So there's that cost.

And if resources do ever become more scarce, some sort of priority listing would be nice:

If not everything can be built, try in this order: defense bases, fighter bases, barracks, depots, factories, dairy.

That way you could tell that planet that dbases are the most important, and to always give whatever power and resources they can to them, followed by the other stuff. (If you include power, you might want to put domes and food and such in the list too).

Anyway, I'm kinda sidetracking this suggestion.. but yeah.
