Bring back some of the old trade route functions.
It would REALY be handy to have 2 buttons on a port.
Export and Import
These button could be activated or deactivated
* Export: Target planet will export rescources to other planets IF any are set on Import
* Import: Target planet will import rescources from other planets IF there are any set on export.
it might not be as fancy as the old trade routes but it could seriously help out sorting what planet needs rescources the most.
i mean why does a mining planet need precious Hypermetals?

Ax, if you have not noticed, a planet automatically distributes them. If 2 planets have a port, they will transfer.
but yea, having the control to enable them to or disable them to would be a good feature.

Yes I noticed, i was playing beta a few hours ago and the SY planet kept sending its Hypermatter to the other planets to equalize the trade....
only the SY planet needs the hyper so why send it to the others.... anyways the system works but it works to fairly *aint that weird* if we could manipulate the flow then we could fine tune it now the old way was WAY to complicated for an MV of this size *note no more seperate system* BUT a simple on/off switch on import/export would be realy handy

I agree completely, it would really help speed up testing in beta. It would be good for release as well. Could see the usefulness in scnerio servers as well as those resource deficient systems in the mv. (ie. Cyg, Van Maanen, etc) Nothing more annoying than dumping a ton of hydrogen on the sy planet only to see it export it.

As per the developed map that i had designed. 3 homeworlds with all resorces already there, and a Ship Yard on each world to boot. It's perfect for running the "tests" needed on the ships.

The version in 1.480 was good, the choice to import and export certain metals.

True but like i said then we had a system by system MV.
this MV is one HUGE map, thus rendering the old system well useless.
but if we can set the basics PER planet alone it should help setting key rescurce receivers

Doesnt each system merely export to itself? I.E. Sol only to Sol planets, and Luyten planets only to Luyten planets?

in Theory, all factions planets supposedly trade with each other. I have not seen anything to prove this though. I even tested it after a reset once... a buddy of mine was building in tau ceti and i was building in ross. My planet had resources that his didn't like cyrometals, and his didn't i mined the hell out of it, and he mined his. I only started getting heavy metals when someone was building the Re or Azchu i believe, so i don't think it's true.
Oh and if you don't want a starport to move resources, just Shut It Off...

@nub
they do. but its intra-system trade, not inter-system (within, not between)

And that's the problem - we want it to import resources, but not export.

(sorry if this has been said, didnt have time to read it all)
What i think would solve this would be to give Ship Yard worlds / or Factory Worlds unlimited need and Cap off the rest of the planets that are just Mining worlds off at a signifigantly lower number.
thus once World A hits 500 Hvy Metal, then it all gets shiped to the nearest SY world.
maybe something along this line would help out,
sorry if it didnt make sense, in a rush..
