Tonight, Bito brought up an interesting observation... people die way too much. The recent example would be trannies loading up 10 inf, rushing a planet, ramming the planet, then respawning another tranny and land another 10 inf in about 15 seconds. Yes I think it's a valid tactic, I'm not here to complain about how ruff and the rest of the UGTO forced us out of Ross (heh, was good fun guys ).
But anyways, I think something could be done to prevent rapid spawning and promote teamwork. The system I am thinking of is exactly like in Allegiance. When you die, you get "podded" (launched out in an escape pod). For you to respawn, a teammate would have to fly over you and pick you up. Or, land on a friendly planet. These pods travel slow, something like about 10 gu/s.
Now, seeing as how these things don't have jump drives, if you get left at an enemy planet with no teammates... time to log. This system will strongly encourage faction members to look out for one another.
So, uhh... discuss.

I like it, to many players dont seem to fear dying, and just throw ships aways.

Everybody always knows of the problem of people throwing away ships like nothing. So far, the only suggsetions I seen involved Res loss. Basically, up the amount of presteige you lose from res loss by a considerable amount. However, this will be a pretty bad idea without the Refit.

its a very good idea but....it would cause more problems then solutions. ppl yelling at another player to come pick them up, which means a combat would have to leave his post and go pick up this pod. just dont think its a good way to bring everyone together

A very good idea, indeed.
I hope the Devs looking at this as it's one of the brightest ideas to include in 1.483 for sure.

I can see where waiting 2 minutes when you die might be a little too much, they could always make logging from a pod shorter, perhaps 1 minute.

Anyone here play Firearms, the Half-Life mod? When you die, you have to wait for a few teammates to die too, so you respawn as a group. Also, it takes a few minutes for the respawn counter, so if you die right after you spawn, you're up a creek.
About pods, and people crying about dying....don't throw your ship away! Honestly, the whole point of the suggestion here is to put more value on ships, not to make it so people have it harder when they play.
Think, and Red, this has nothing to do about prestige loss.

Hell, maybe add a part with getting pres for retreiving pods:wink:.

I like the two minute respawn Idea, even just one minute!! I think it will stop some of the ShipYard abuse that goes on with BOTH sides!! However Im thinking that maby some additional coding might need to be done so that maby the time limit is only in effect in systems where combat is taking place......kind of like the planets being blockaded!!

Well just put a Respawn timer: make it so that its not autorised to spawn in the same system you just died or Despawned(aka used SY) for 2 mins. There would be 2 exeptions to this. The Faction's Home system, and when there is no enemy attack in a system. It would prevent both of our spawning problems

Jack's suggestion + Switch's idea for pres gain for retrieving pods = AWESOME.
This is one of the best ideas I have Ever seen. It would help with the planned elimination of scenario servers, too, newbies could gain some extra pres by rescuing escape pods, and it would encourage teamwork and preservation of ships. This definitely needs to be considered for 1483!
Just don't forget to add an easy indicator/key command to show where pods are, so you don't have to fumble around on the F2 screen to find one or have the podded pilot give you directions
