Beam Cannons are a feature I've always wanted to see in Darkspace, mainly because I can't imagine a little cl2k beam being death incarnate. more like anti aircraft weaponary. Of course they'd probably look alot cooler with bigger scale too.

I would love to see some sort of beam cannon ingame.... something like a Pulsebeam effect and the damage of a CL1K over 3 sec or so....
would love to see it but its a laser so we need to implement some sort of hit ratio to them in order to make sure they wont dominate the game as a direct hit weapon.
maybe high damage but low hit ratio to balance em

also maybe they are only one stations and dreads exept for a new ship like the beam cruiser 1 missle 1 beam cannon and 2 cl 500, stations have 2 beam cannons, and dreads have 1

I (and absolute drool-crazy,out-of-the-sky-,over-the-sky Beam crazy love) have to say this presents an interesting possibility...
Unfortunately...we already have one, the pulse beam. While it would be totally awesome to have these beam cannons, they would still be to obsolete against Pulse lasers.
Think of another use for them..like..planet bombardment! ...er..no...

If we do have beam cannons, just make it a single hugh cannon with the ship built around it....

Heck yeah!! Beam Cannons are what we need to Add.
I would Love to see some sort of Beam Cannon that would be a Straight firing weapon that wouldnt track like a CL.
[Beam Weapon]
Light, dmg = to CL 500 but the recharge rate of 2/3rds of a cl500
range 800gu
med, dmg = to CL 700 but the recharge rate of 1/2 of a Cl100
range 900gu
hvy, Dmg = to a CL 1300 but the recharge rate of a CL1k
range 1300 gu
Suber heavy, (stations, Dreads, GA ship) Dmg = to a Cl3k with a recharge rate = to 1 & 1/2 that of a cl2k Range 2000 Gu
[/Beam Weapon]
Just some suggestions for this cuz we need some new toys STAT!
