I think Shift + Space (manual detonate alpha) should not activate/deactivate Point Defense. I do not see how the two are related...and it's quite annoying to have to toggle the Point defense for CLs you do or don't want set for PD.
Just a little blurb that came to mind as I played today. I had 2 originally but I forgot the other one. (Bito, you're absolutely no help thanks)

well your see if you have a hotkey for weapons like torps (4) and your beams you set a number like (1). If you push shift 1 your PD turns on or off. If you push shift 4 (the hotkey for your torps) they will detonate. So dont use shift space use shift then the hotkey.

Bad_Skeelz's big list of random/stupid suggestions:
_____________________
1) Better Planet Collision Warning: Currently the "collision alert! collsion alert!..." warning is extreamly ineffective, primarily due to the fact that your helm officer is whispering it to you from across the spacious bridge of an AC as you gaze merrily out the windows. Instead I propose that, when collision is imminent, your screen begins to flash red and the game plays the audio file "TURN YOU IDIOT OR WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!" at a volume of about 50 decibles.
2) Effects of planetary collisions by starships: Currently, if you blindly stumble into a planet (or a planet blidnly stumbles into you, e.g. Sirius 1), the planet laughs as the 1500m dreadnaught smashes into its surface without leaving a scratch. This is simply silly. If a dreadnaught collidies with a terran planet, there should be some pretty drastic effects. Such as, total enviromental shift. For an example, see the following article.
3) Gaifens: Boy do they suck. Their mouth-beams are only powerful enough for them to FF each other into a crispy treat. Solution: Give each gaifen 36 PCMs and the ability to wormhole. That'll put the "fear" back into "Fear the Space Squid!"
4) The K'luth: Take them out.
5) Blinkers on ICC ships: Tell Gideon to keep his greedy paws off em'.

Aside from the whole 36 PCM Idea... Skeelz has some good ones there...
And he is right, DO NOT TOUCH OUR BLINKERS!!!

I agree with Hirad... 36 PCMs is a bit off.
I'm thinking 52. We've got to max out that gadget limit, after all.

space fires all weapons
Shift + space alternates all weapons
if your not a fool you use the shift + number method like alot of other people have learnt :/

Shift+the number isn't very ergonomic. Fix shift+space. It really shouldn't do both things that it does, so the conversation is moot.

I want a new class of infantry. Infantry specialized for repelling and engaging in Ship boardings.
I want to see space Salvage Last and not evaporate..
Id like to see the Diamond shape used atleast only on ships and maybe missles. Hearts stars diamonds and red balloons are also good with me.. they are magicly delicious.

It was upped to 64 a while back for increased ship design versatility.
