Heres what ive figured out in the beta so far:
Normal chat - Yellow - Sends to all your Faction members in the universe.
/fleet - Green - Sends to fleet members only.
/target - Red - Sends a message to your target.
/send clan - Also Yellow - Sends to your clan duh.
/yell - orange - Sends to people within a certain range. Dunno the range.
Pretty confusing if you ask me. Not to mention the normal team chat turns green when you chat while sitting in a gate.
Can the colors please be restored to the old?
New chat commands in cofusing enough, no need to change the colors.
Few Suggestions:
Normal chat - Should be Green, should only reach people in your system.
Right now it seems to reach all friendly ships in the universe.
/fleet - should be Yellow - A nice shorter replacement for /send clan.
/target - Should be light blue.
/yell - Orange is good but it should reach all friendly ships in your system and a few of the surounding ones.
/enemy (Not in the game Atm) - Should be red and it should send a message to all Allies/Enemies in the system you are in.
Dunno if all of the above are possible but it would be a lot better then the current system methinks.

what exactly is /tell? never seen that one before. or is it some sort of special mod/admin command

Its basically /target, except instead of it being blue, they have turnd it to red.

While in ship slection screen, when you type, it auto selects /fleet as the command syntax for the message. So if you're on a ship selection screen of a GTN planet it'll send only to GTN, and there's no option to change it to faction (just the text input box comes up, not the command options).

Could you either: Set the default command of inside a ship selection screen as /faction. Or; give the option to select your command sytax while in the screen.
Also you could set it so that being in the ship selection screen doesn't atuo select the planet, not sure how hard this would be, you'd need some kind of data relay to the ship selection screen, even though it's not being selected by the player.
which ever way, please fix this it is V V anoying.
