been thinking on it..a high ranking offical if killed SHOULD garner a lil extra pres for the ship that kills him..AND the chancelor SHOULD have a ship befitting his rank. ssooooo......thought up this ship for that rank...as to what it looks like....leave that to the development team...they did great jobs on designing the existing ones.it should be bigger than present dreads but still smaller than stations....and equipped with the following
2cl2ks with a 180 arc forward
2 cl2ks with a 180 arc aft
4 cl1ks amidships with 22.5 arc forward and aft
4 cl500s 360 arc
4 torps(FS) 180 forward arc
4 torps(FS)180 aft arc
4 torps(FS) 22.5 arc forward and aft
2 hvy armor/shields forward
2 hvy armor/shields aft
1 hvy armor per side
1 hvy armor full
5 ie eng max speed 20 GUs
1 reload that repairs ship systems only NO wep reload
1 1500 fusion reactor
1 ecm/eccm
1 tractor beam
FS= faction specific
requirements for ship is the ranks AND 10 million credits
final killer of the chancellors ship gets 100k credits and 50 pres for the kill.
just a thought.
do you smell something burning??????

And this ship would get SPANKED by a new Battle Dread (post v1.482).
We are leaving it open for the creation of a flag ship, based on the influence system.
However, first we need to thuroughly need to test the changes in v1.482, and there are technical issues that prevent us from creating a more powerful kind of ship.
Namely, the 64 component issue. No ship object can have more than 64 total components (this includes engines, defenses, sensors...everything). Technically, you can go above 64 comp, but then bad things happen.
At any rate, I smacked into the component number barrier with the support stations (60 for ICC/UGTO, 61 for K'Luth). Need to leave a little unused capacity, for future development.
Finally, the creation of a very powerful flag ship would be tied to the influence system, not the prestege system. This way, we have very direct control over how many appear in game, rather than rendering other top cap ships (like dreadnoughts) obsolete.
At any rate, none of us are opposed to the creation of a flag ship. Such a ship would obviously have to be very powerful, due to it's important role in a fleet. Also, because people like me will strive to kill it just to cheese off the pilot of said flag ship. Just, there are a few issues we have to tackle first.
I must strongly suggest you wait until after you see our design pattern for v1.482, and see some of the changes to ships up close. This way, you can get a good idea of how things work with the new components.
And I mean it, a new Battle Dread could munch that ship (due to large weapons), and if we do up close battle (which that seems designed for) the EAD would take it down. The EAD would have slightly less firepower (depending on how you look at it, it actually might have MORE firepower), but the EAD is much more energy efficient.

This ship would actually be a big joke, I could easily sit next to its left or right side, about 200 gu away, launching all weapons all the time, and the captain of that ship couldnt shoot any weapon at me

itd be cool if the flag ship of a fleet could spawn some of the lower class ships, maybe destroyers and down, that way newbies in the game wont have to worry about navigating around too much, they could just select a flag ship in a hot zone and get spawned there. sort of like the insta combat thing in PS
the flag ship oughta be something massive, well protected, probably a standoff or medium ranged combat vessel, or possibly a very powerful close range vessel, to keep ppl away from it. making them really *tall* compared to other ships would help it look important, having something bearing down over your dreadnaught would be as impressive as an AD close-jumping a frigate id imagine.
everyone crowds around the biggest ship, so it ought to be bigger then a dreadnaught atleast, i dont think making it bigger then a station would be... real... since it has to be more maneuverable then onea those things, but still, a *mothershipish* feel is what you want i think

Personally, I prefer the long, thin ships. In my opinion, they look cooler.

i was thinking tall, long, and a medium width, atleast for ICC since that seems to be what most of the ships are like in general
