ok this popped through my head just now ok
each side will have a carrier ship it has a good amount of beam weapons to deal with fighter attacks
it would look sorta like current carriers a flat top kind of ship it would have 160 fighters total however it can't launch them all at once and the fighters also need to be armed manned and brought to the flight deck
the carrier can launch 8 aircraft
thats assuming that they are assualt fighters u can launch 8 interceptor fighters at once and only 4 bombers at the same time
carriers would have the ability to launch VTOL fighters fast like fighter hut can hover and unload on a target

they would require other ships to protect them
also the carrier carries ammo and fuel for all the aircraft u can access a menuj that allows u to arm the fighters with the correct loadout select which aircraft u want readied on the flight deck and set their alert status
which is alert 5 alert 10 alert 15 and alert 30
alert 5 means that fighter is manned armed and ready to launch within 5 seconds alert 10 means that the fighter aircraft is manned fueled but not armed ready to launch in a bout 10 seconds alert 15 means that the fighter is at the hanger fueled not armed not manned alert 30 means its ready to launch in 30 seconds

also u can have simultaneous strikes say u need to bomb some planet with fighters u can have 2 bombers take off with 4 interceptors to air support
and some assualt fighters to escort the the bombers planetside (and go down their with them to provide SEAD support thats supression of enemy air defenses)
also 1 new kind of aircraft its a refueling tanker what it does is it goes to a location away from combat and when ur fighters run low on fuel they head to the refueling tanker (unless ordered to RTB which then they head back to the carrier if they need to refuel to make it to the carrier they will automatically do so) i just thought this up tell me what u think and if i should add or remove anything else (by the way if ur carrier runs outta supplies for ur aircraft thats fuel spare parts ammo and also if u don't have enough pilots to man the aircraft ur ability to engage the enemy will be soo much in trouble to say the least)

You should have some crazy futuristic model (sticking with UGTO standards)
that looks ever so little like a carrier from today, but looking much more like a space ship... rounded hulls
.... long skiny flight decks...
sorta like a Star Destoryer from SW, you know those big ass killer things?

itd be neat if there were a deployable unit on planets that was a giant *hover carrier* that launched small atmosphere fighters to destroy buildings/tanks (when theyre implemented)

Thats all good lark, but that'd render bombs completely useless if you can just orbit a planet and pwn it with a couple fighters

Perhaps fighter can be outfitted in the engineering screen

still VERY good idea a carrier only depends on it fighters and escorts it cannot fight alone

have you any though of what Def Bases do to enemy objects in thier range? the shoot at em and kill/try to kill them
