I'm still advocating having a nav status display for jump path clearance, dictor field range and system damage.
I was thinking of 3 icons along the left side of the target info box (in the lower left corner). Make them stacked 3 high, same size as the component/cargo icons. Their function would be to change color from neutral (grey/black) to green, red and yellow.
Jump path clearance icon - If you have no target selected, it is neutral. If you have a target selected, it is red if the path is blocked by something and green if you have a clear jump path to the target. It could also turn yellow if the target is outside of maximum jump distance based on your current fuel.
Interdictor field range icon - This icon is RED if you are within 1000gu range of an UNFRIENDLY dictor field SOURCE. (Dictored) This icon turns YELLOW when you are within 1000gu-2500gu of an UNFRIENDLY dictor field SOURCE. (Close) This icon turns GREEN when you are within 2500gu-5000gu of an UNFRIENDLY dictor field SOURCE. (Far) And the icon is NEUTRAL when there is no UNFRIENDLY dictor field SOURCE within 5000gu of you.
System damage icon - This icon is neutral if you have no system damage and no shield/armor damage. It turns green if you have no system damage but have shield/armor damage. It turns yellow if you have 99%-50% system damage. It turns red when you have more than half of your systems damaged.
