In this proposed system of planet capturing, the game is presumed to be patched to 1.481.

A summary of the ideas:

  • Infantry drop on the surface

  • After a five second interval, spaces where the invading infantry land capture those areas of land. Like the colored zones of control presently visible on the navmap, areas where enemy infantry land will turn red.

  • Infantry take 5 seconds to move across each diamond of the planet and capture it.

  • When crossing over a structure and encountering no resistance, the infantry unit will stop for a number of seconds, depending on the structure, to capture it.

In this way, a covert strike force can breach the planetary defences and capture the Interdictor Base for long enough for the main fleet to enter and land troops.

Barracks rotation can also be prevented by landing troops on an enemy barracks and capturing it. Several structures, e.g. Shipyards, Starports, Domes, and Hydro Farms cannot be captured, which is where the raze option comes in handy.

  • When more than 70% of a planet belongs to the enemy, the remaining friendly troops on the planet start to take damage at a rate of 3% every 5 seconds. This is to ease to assault on the planet for the attackers. Also, this makes it more difficult to capture large planets.

Sounds like a plan

1 thing: How about allowing Teams to build on the spots they captured?
Lets say ICC attack UGTO. then UGTO would be able to build on the part of the planet that hasnt been captured yet and use the resources the planet has.
ICC are attacking and can build on whatever they captured BUT cant use planet Resources. They have to build withwhatever they have in their cargo.

In the future when we can build tanks and stuff this will actually make funky planet Battles

Constructive, close enough. But by far one of the best ideas I have heard of in a long while.

This is a great idea! It would be terrble on FA, but who the hell cares about FA??? In the MV, this would make for truly interesting battles, and that is needed. But if the attackers could only use what resrouces they brought with them on their ships, would ships cargo spaces have to be increased?

And this brings up a point I've always been really curious about: Why does a dreadnaught, more than TWICE a cruisers size, only have 1/3 more of its cargo capacity? Why not increase dread cargo to 8 slots?

Anywho, this would help to add the whole epic scale Faustus is looking for, and realism too. The defenders would be battling back with their whole raze commands, pissing the attackers off. I'm getting giddy thinking about it. Implement this idea.

Good show GTW
