I Have Mentioned this sort of thing before & I have Made the idea even better ... Here goes ..................................

I Propose there be Champ Badges , Not Permanent Ones But Only Held for the Duration of the Champ Holdership ...

ie..
(*1)Prestige Badge [insert flash badge here] Coombie is currently No1 in Pres In DS , So untill He loses that Position He Gets A Cool Badge to Show off that no one else has (Not that he has to as he is the King Of DS) But Ya you know untill is Beaten Then it is Passed on to The Victor

(*1)Kills Badge [insert Bloodsoaked Badge here] Sheng Currently Has the Most Kills so Gets a Bloodsoaked Badge to Show off untill is Beaten Then it is Passed on to The Victor

Etc Etc Etc... So on & So Forth yaddayaddayada

Also ( Ha Not done yet )

There should Also be a
*Dented Badge for Planet Collisions ..
*Extremely BloodSoaked With bodyparts for Killed Badge ...(Maybe an eyeball or 2 added hehe
*A Time Played Badge With a Cool looking clock ...
*A Dollar Badge for Credits
*A Bonus Badge for Bonus Prez
*A Kamikazee Plane for Kami Badge
*A Custer Badge For Friendly Fire Badge(He basically Got his Team Killed)
*A Hitler Badge For Self Destruct Badge
*A Garbage Bin Badge for Resources Lost
*An Indian Badge For Scouting

Yes well Juz Ideas , But I Really Would Like to see Certain Badges Semi Permanent .. As in You Only Keep them While you hold the title .. That way theyre Rare & Valued ..

As an added Point Maybe When badges are lost they can be replaced with a shadow of the badge so The has beens can look at it & say hey i had that once .... Back in my Day yadayadayada

lol, that sounds fun and cool.

maybe have 1 new ship for each badge, that way the ship is also rare and not seen that often, like, say the kami badge has pretty much no weapons, but does an incredable amount of damage when it SDs lol, and for the prestige badge you get a .... umm..... a.... a station that only loses the resources of a cruiser when it dies? lol i dunno..

Wonder how many people are aware of how Sheng got most of his Prestige/Kills...

or for res lost, a scout with HEAVY firepower like that of a station but same hull as a scout and loses double the resources of a station when it dies

like say
6 heavy beams slots
4 beam slots
10 heavy weapon slots
6 weapon slots
2 IE drive
1 Tachyon Drive
4 heavy armors

Just have fun firing more than once

More Badges are always cool but id rather see these type of badges for something that actually takes skill.
Getting kills is easy, just camp Transports like some certain players did/do
You can get the Dollar/Bonus press badge by sittign in Mv and hitting CTRL + O every 10 minutes.
The Scouting Badge might be the most difficult of these 3, though hitting someone with a tag aint very hard either.
Press Badge, well might as well make it a permanemt badge for Coombie.

DS doesnt have to much to that requires skill right now, everybody with a brain, good connection and a keyboard can use most of the "Advanced" Ds Tactics.

Yes a Hitler Badge is just what this game needs. Whoohoo...!
Then we wouldpeople showing off their H-Badge
Or of course people asking admins to remove SD's from their profile, who would want this badge?

These are bad things, why would a faction give our badges to people who attack your own team and and waste your Factions Ships/Resources?

I dont think there should be a Killed, pllanet collisions, Self d, FF and res loss badges because it will make players purposly do that stuff just so they get that badges which kinda ruins the fun of the game.

An addition to this system:

Champ badges are a nice idea, but as someone suggested, they can be abused, and since only one person at a time can have them, they won't affect the general game that much and will only make people envious of the 10 or so players that get a special toy no-one else does.

How about... how to term this... 'ON FIRE' badges. Badges that last 24 hours, activated by excellent performance in combat or bombing or building crap or whatever. Similar to 'ON FIRE' mode in certain sports games and mass kill power-ups in arcade shooters. Let me give an example.

Let's say the dashing pirate of space and saucy sea-wench loins known as HellGremlin has been slaughtering people left and right. As the badge suggests, he's on frickin' fire - in the span of one day, he has bagged 50 kills.

As a result, he gets awarded the Homicide Badge or something. This gives him a nice new ship with which to better murder people, something like a souped up high-speed Assault Destroyer with a fat reactor and some heavy beam slots. The ship remains active for 24 hours until the moment his Homicide Badge resets itself.

Thoughts?

Having access to "Special Ships" like HellGremlin suggested would make this seem like an arcade game, complete with a joystick and the little buttons i have to press really fast as I pump quarters into the machine. It would add a cheesy factor to the game.

But the ON FIRE badges idea does sound rather intriguing, although I don't see myself winning any except the planet collisions badge, at least until Griller comes back.....

Well, if a system like HG's were put into place, I think once you got the badge, you'd be out of the running for getting the badge again for 24 hours. After all, if you got a super Assault Dessy, you would probably be able to get another 50 kills with a little less effort, and thus be eligible for the badge - but this shouldn't be possible. You can only be in the running for the "On Fire" mode when you're not already "On Fire," basically.

Otherwise, might be kind of fun.

(entirely from a player perspective, not a Dev...)

Yeah, that's basically it. You can't collect bonuses for subsequent 'on fire' badges while under the effect of one already earned. The whole point of this is to set the badge at a nearly unreachable number, so that when it happens, a player can get a kick and go berzerk for a little while.
