I'm NOT removing ship modding... |

FYI...
I've decided NOT to remove ship modding... however, I will be removing device upgrades, instead the ship type will determine the device level automatically.
Additionally, modding will become simplified... you'll simply orbit a friendly planet, target your own device, and you'll will be able to select upgrades for that device within limits of the planet your orbiting. So no more factory queues or buying parts from ports.

Great! Thats the best decision..
-the lag caused by starports removed
-the time involved in modding is significantly less
-we still get to mod the ships to our own preference
-no more imbalances with levels
Way to go F!

Woot! Yay for the simplified modding!
One big issue out of the way.

Hats off to Faustus. I think the community will be very pleased by this decision.

any word on resources lost/prestige lost from the higher cost of modding from this "edition" of darkspace 1.483?
i think i entered this version of darkspace w/ something around 400k resources lost and some 25k prestige over several years
after the 2 week trial i ended up with 900k+ resources lost and 21.7k prestige.. all in that 2 week period..
so i'd say the resources lost are a bit extreme if i've lost more resources in the last 2 weeks than i managed to lose in the previous 2 years..
could this please be looked into?

Sounds great, will there be a delay to put the slots in in place of the fac building time? Or will it be instant...sounds like a great idea F...woot!

1. Your all a bunch of yes-men suckups.
2. Whatever, I suppose we won't see uber ICC frigs unable to be destroyed by a station with multiple alphas. I'm still kinda lukewarm about this though. Whatever, playtsting will see...

I personally would extremely very much dislike that.

I think this is the best way, it will be far easier to balance.
Any news on the pres gain/loss problems (loosing huge amounts but gaining nothing)? I think its this rather than modding putting a lot more people off at the moment:)

Yes men my rear end - this is what most of the people ASKED for in the other thread F posted - a simplified & level free modding system.
@F, I'm guessing that this includes more in-balance shields & armor for the smaller ships (the hull modifier just wasn't enough as far as shields were concerned)?
