So after months of debating I broke down and bought a new PC.

Retiring my old Dual Core E6400 2.4ghz/4gb pc2-6400/Radeon 4850 desktop after two and a half years of good dedicated service.

Been looking at the I7 extremes vs the second generation I7-2600's. Grey box vs white box, etc... (Note: the I7-2600's are out classing the I7-970's and 980's, loosing out to the 990's)

Finally found a deal on a grey box (OEM) with an I7-2600 for just $650. Same system everywhere else was listing around $1100 base...

Of course going OEM means I will only get one PCIe slot so no dual video cards, but thats ok.

So looking to get a new Video card to replace the Radeon 5450 that comes with the PC...

I've been looking at the following:
NVidia 560 TI oc
NVidia 570
Radeon HD 5870
Radeon HD 6950
Radeon HD 6970

Really not wanting to spend over $300, closer to $200 would be better, but I usually do buy upper end equipment.

And before you ask, the reason the Radeon HD6800's are not in the list above is because they actually clock in lower spec-wise than the HD5870's.

My one big stipulation is that I want at "minimum" 256 bit pipe.

So that said, and wanting Price in the $200 to $300 range, what does everyone think would be the best card for a single card (no SLI or CrossFire) system?

Radeon HD 6970 will beat everything else on that list. A decent Sapphire or XFX one will probably click higher too.

According to This Benchmark the GTX 570 beats the HD6970 in everything except Texel and Memory Bandwidth...
