I've run into a few trucking DS'er out there. I'd like to let any of you know if you don't already that this morning Arrow Trucking(The flatbed company) shut it's doors this morning.

But that isn't were it stops. They also shut off the fuel cards. Drivers were under loads or were picking up loads when this happened without any warning and approx 1,000 or possibly more are stranded all over the US.

Freightliner is repo'ing trucks as fast as they can and started doing it this morning. Shippers and brokers are scrambling to find where their freight is, paychecks for the past few weeks are bouncing and the company owners have dropped off the map and issued no statements. Except in a few instances where drivers were told they wont ever be paid(for what they're owed now) and to get some food stamps.

The good news is if the drivers have enough fuel to get to a Freightliner dealer they can turn in thier truck and get a bus ticket home.

However as any good truck driver knows, it's not that simple. The truck is essentially your home, you have everything in there. TV's, microwaves, clothes, DVD players, fridge, etc, etc.. You're not getting all that on a bus. And this isn't even taking into account that this is a flatbed company and you have a couple hundred pounds of tools also.

So if any of your run accross an arrow driver, try to buy him/her diner if you can't give them a ride.

Right now, at christmas, they need the help.

Thanks,
kenetiks.

I wonder how voluntary any of that was (shutting the doors).

I do know that if it is an actual Bankruptcy filing, the company has to talk to a judge to ask permission to continue to pay anything/anybody. They can, however, do so in advance to avoid disruptions. This is a trucking company...they know what's critical. It's rather obvious about the ramifications of stranding 1000 drivers across the United States.

Management really made a mess out of this.

the owners can get into trouble for closeing with out notice. that's probly why they've dropped off the map (and the fact 1000 ppl might start hunting them down)

How can you sue somehting that doesn't exist anymore? A complany without assets is almost impossible to get money out of if sued. Thats why alot of smaller trucking companies (yes Arrow is a smaller company) lease thier trucks to save money over buying them... Lease - no maint/upkeep costs other than Gas/Oil changes...

AS OF 5 HOURS AGO...

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The future is unclear for Tulsa-based Arrow Trucking after the trucking company suspended operations and laid off employees.

The move Tuesday left numerous drivers stranded around the country as the company also canceled fuel credit cards.

Arrow CEO Doug Pielsticker issued a brief statement Tuesday night saying the company is negotiating with its principal lender and that the unidentified lender wants to secure its collateral.

One Arrow lender is Daimler Financial Services - which owns the company's Freightliner trucks. Callers to Arrow's Tulsa office received a message telling drivers to take their trucks to the nearest Freightliner shop and that Daimler would arrange for a bus ticket home.

A Daimler spokesman says the company is offering stranded drivers a bus ticket home or $200 in cash.

the situation sux for obvious reasons but keep in mind that drivers have their own resources when out on the road, these arnt stranded kids, they are men and women, with homes and families, and will be able to get home, as long as they see reality and relize they wont be getting any money any time soon , if ever from the defunk company , the best thing they can do is fulfill any obligations they have and find another job,

although i am curious how many of the drivers Delivered their loads anyway

The engine alone (in good shape) from a semi is worth nearly $100,000.00+ USD. Don't pull into a dealership and get a cab, don't try to settle, just sell the engine AND transmission from the truck. $100,000.00 + transmission. Drive to your local chop-shop, lol.

these are frightliners and 13 letter crap spreaders (AKA internationals)rnrntrucks complete with a clear title are worth about 20 to 30 grand, depending on year of makernrnsorry to burst your bubble...besides if its your assigned truck, and it disappears, you pay for it as u signed for it when it was issued
