Google has released a beta version of a their own web browser. I downloaded it yesterday, and so far have enjoyed it. It's simple, and yet it has a few feature's I really like. Example, when opening a new tab it shows a few of my past sites I visited so I can just open one if I need it.

That and it's fast. Perhaps it's just in my head but it seems much faster then any other browser I've been using. Anyone else try it yet?

I like the idea of Google anything - was reading today something about how Chrome was based on code approaches taken by several other browsers -- and that this had the potential to introduce bugs & vulnerabilities from each of the other sources. The article was proposing that they'd have to wait for the other sources to post bugfixes before they could fix Chrome.

Google has always been resourceful and dedicated to open-source/web application services. I suspect they realize this already and are working towards reducing or eliminating the possible above impact already. I remember using Opera years ago and I just plain love Firefox -- hate that it keeps crashing for me when I try to browse certain types of financial charts based on javascript. I'm tempted to try to revert a generation or two.

G-Chrome uses Safari's (Apple's browser) rendering engine, Webkit. But that's the only thing they've used. Everything else is their own.
