It appears that Bernie Mac has gone to join George Carlin at The Great Auditorium in the Sky.

...I do realize the concept of imagining Bernie Mac, George Carlin, and an otherworldy auditorium is quite outlandish, especially since it's coming from me... who is, by all other regards, a sensible person. However, death is something I try to take lightly - not as lightly as the kids do in Brave New World, but it's either laugh or let the seriousness of it pelt me in the face. And, really, George Carlin would think I was retarded or something if I like mourned his loss. Can't necessarily do that.

Anyway, I digress.

My memory's a bit blurry at the moment, so I can't quite recall this past year really well. Have any more comedians passed away? Because, really, if this list gets longer any time soon, I'm going to start feeling the lack of funny.

...Like if Lewis Black died. That would really suck.

...

Okay, so I suppose this is kind of a rant/mourning topic. My apologies. I'm just... like... dude, people need to quit dying. Like, funny people. Kill the serious people. Just don't take my funnies.

- Edit: Although I am not perfect, I try to maintain the appearance of perfection. As a result, I edited this post to knock off an annoying typo.

Not a funny person, but Isaac Hayes died today, too.

Well... uh... so, we've lost... George, Bernie, and Chef. Not to say that prominent folks don't die every day, because they do, but... uh... yeah, um. Great stuff here.

In an effort to spark humourous conversation rather than think about the seriousness of death, I shall state: Dying in the ways these folks have just aren't cool. I mean, if I'm gonna die, I'd rather do it in an epic way. That way, I'd be able to give my children a story they can tell their friends.

"Dude, your Dad passed away?"
"Yeah..."
"How'd he go out?"
"His parachute wouldn't open while he was freefalling."

Y'know, something like that. Not... oh, say, heart attack while asleep in bed. While that seems like a more peaceful and less painful way to die... truly, the pain I'll feel after splattering against the ground wouldn't last that long.

...Although, the more I think about it, the more I cringe at the idea of a Grimith Splatter. Eugh.

Spike Milligan had a fairly normal death, but his headstone reads:

"Duirt mé leat go raibh mé breoite"

That's Gaelic for "I told you I was ill".
