Fellow Darkspacians, I am attempting the most daring of endeavors, and I seek your aid. I am attempting to run Windows on my PS3. Now, I have seen that it can be done, but as far as I know it was done on the PS3s that actually had some decent harddrive space. This, then is my quest.
I, $yTHe, am going to attempt to run either windows or a windows emulator off of an external harddrive (not WINE, thats needs an Intel processor) using Yellow Dog Linux embedded OS on my PS3.
I've already got the External partitioned so it can be used by the PS3. The information I need is this: How do I run an alternate OS from Linux (i.e what does it actually do to make Windows run, I need to know the process so I can tweak it to run off of the external) and how does Windows utilize DirectX to make use of the features on a GPU. I know this is all on Google, but I'm very unfamiliar with Linux and would like people I can actually talk to.
Cheers

That quote has been tampered with!
And no, the PS3 has lovely games. Its just that I need a decent computer, and my laptop and currently monetary situation cannot rise to that occassion. I'm running WoW on low. Thats how bad the situation is.

if you want to try to run a virtual machine, im using http://www.virtualbox.org/ . VMware seems to be a good choice as well. methinks you'd install it (perhaps on the external, i cant say that i know how that works under linux) and/or have the vm create its virtual drive on the external drive for windows to install into.
dual-booting's another option, since you've got space partitioned already, tho as i recall you'd have to install windows first, and then install your linux after (else windows screws with the bootloader, which would probably be bad on the ps3)

LOLWUT
$300 is a small price to pay for a computer that can do that, and play Blu-Ray. And play quality games. But the decency of my system is not in question here. Getting it to run Windows is.
