A lawyer from New York was driving through Georgia when a sheriff pulls him over for speeding.
The sheriff gets out of his car and walks over to the lawyer. The first thing he says is, "No one moves that fast in my state!"
The lawyer calmly responds, "Sherman did."
He spent the ensuing night in jail.

Well, that's what you get for being a predominantly agrarian region. Noobs.

To be anal about this, the lawyer could not have possibly been speeding if he had been moving as fast as Sherman did, since Sherman back then wasn't operating on automobile power. I mean, the lawyer could have been on some dirt road which had an advisement of 10 MPH, but that's all I'm seeing.
But it is amusing, made more so because of its truth. The lawyer would have been given, at the very least, one night night in jail.
For those of you who don't get the joke, I'll give you a honest and serious solution (very rare for me): do a background check on the second half of the Civil War. I'm not a big fan of Wikipedia, but it would be useful for this matter. More specifically, take a peeksie at Sherman's March.
I know many people who hate him for what he did.

Sherman's march to the sea was relatively extremely fast for his time.
I'm sure the lawyer's speed was relatively extremely fast for his time too.

Arguably. Still, it was a good counter on your part.
