A novice was trying to fix a broken Lisp machine by turning the power off and on.
Knight, seeing what the student was doing, spoke sternly: “You cannot fix a machine by just power-cycling it with no understanding of what is going wrong.”
Knight turned the machine off and on.
The machine worked.

Remember to at least let some time between the power on and off to let all components to completely power down.
Its bad if some condensator still has power in it and you turn it back on. can actually cause more problems.
I personalty wait at least 8 seconds.
(ok a minimal of 3 or 4 seconds, if i know device well enough)
