I ask a buddy of mine if he would sell me his old motorcycle and show me how to ride it. He said he wouldn't sell it to me but would be more than happy to loan it to me for the week. So he brought the bike over, hung around for a few minutes then said here's the keys. I asked him If he was going to show me how to ride it and he said "naw just play around on it for awhile and you'll figure it out."
It took awhile but I figured out how to turn the dang thing on and how to get around in first gear. Only real problem I got is that I've never even sat in a stick shift much less a bike and I'm not sure how you go about switching gears while your moving. I'm pretty sure the shifter is the foot lever on the left but, do you still have to hold in the clutch while your going from first to second and just how do you down shift?
Guys going to be real lucky if I don't burn out his clutch before the weeks through. Heh, he might be lucky to get the thing back in one piece i've already dropped the sucker twice trying to figure out how to ride it .

Yes, when you shift from first to second hold the clutch in. Same goes for when you have to down shift. LIke from 3rd to first for a stop sign.

When moving between gears, or breaking, hold down the cluth. You may find it difficult at first, but it allows you much more control, and uses less gas/petrol. When accelerating, decrease the cluth slowly, to allow the engine to bite into the gear properly - and that's all there is too it. Don't EVER ride the cluth though. If you're going to be coasting, slip it into neutral.
