Oooo....FX-57...*love* =) single core for teh win!!!
but the 450W PSU should suffice, i'm running the 57 with a 7900GTX, and 3x 250GB HDD with a 500W antec phantom, and the fan has yet to come on from stress

That memory = rubbish. If you're going to contentrate on getting a good system, might as well buy good memory, and not some generic stuff with high timings (aim for timings as low as 2 (or as close to that number as possible).
1GB of low timing memory = $200.
Is there a difference?
Memory running @ 333mhz and at 2-2-2-2 timings, runs faster than memory running @ 400mhz and at 3-3-3-3 timings.
As far as the graphics card goes - ATI's 1950 is far superior, but go with what you want.

If you wanted to spend the money, I'd say get the Superclocked 8800 GTS. GTX even if you want to shell out some more cash. I've seen both cards. Couple of guys I know that are heavily into computer upgrading say they are the best cards they have ever bought. Most the badmouthing of these cards by people, is wrong I found. That doesn't suprise me though...

Except the superclocked one is just 50mhz faster - it's not worth the cash. It's also worth noting that they have no 8*00 series drivers yet. They have ones that support them, but not the feature sets.

Which Superclocked are we talking? For me, the cash might be worth it. It depends though. As for the drivers. They will come, might take a little bit, but they will.

$50 for 50mhz more? No thanks :/
You get more performance from another pipeline or ALU than 50mhz.
I personally don't like them, or the fact that there's a mile long forum thread about how lots of people are angry and going to boycott Nvidia because they state their cards are "Vista ready", yet they're actually not.
Anyways, I could go on for years about this that and the other.
X1950 Pro is omfg far superior than the 7950 GT, and it's roughly the same price (I think it's slightly cheaper due to production costs).

well, Jack, my Motherboard is running Nvidia's Nforce 4 chipset....i have no idea how an ATI card would work with that....and i play games built for Nvidia video cards also. i bought the video card a couple hours ago. gonna see how well it works with my proccessor and the stock PSU.

Don't believe that rubbish. Most "The way it's meant to be played" games run better on ATI hardware than Nvidia hardware purely because of the way they insist of doing shadows (since the FX series, YAY). But it doesn't matter anyway.
Looks like you're going to ignore any of the advice I give you anyway

it's not that i am ignoring you, it';s that i am not a fan of ATI. i already bought my card, and i don't want to spend another 250 on an ATI one.

If you can find one, get a FX-59. Actually, you'd probably be better off with a slightly slower dual core processor than a 57. I have a 57 lying somewhere at my friends house, and I wouldn'y swap it out for a mid-ranged dual core, purely because I like being able to alt tab and load up Firefox instantly, without having to wait a few seconds because Windows has to push a few hundred meg of whatever game's running out of memory.
