The little I've played of it so far seems pretty nifty, although the graphics are very demanding and I devestatingly have to run everything on low. Fortunately the graphics engine is as yet completely unoptimized, so there is hope for the future.
For those who can't get in to the 'official' beta (like me) there is a workaround.
You can get the stuff here. Download the beta installer, 2.7 patch, and the crack that allows you to play LAN games without the beta key.
"But what use is playing LAN games?" you may ask. Well, the answer is Hamachi.. This handy little utility allows you to set up online networks that are LANs as far as your computer it concerned, so you can set up SupCom games with your buddies.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten SupCom multiplayer to work for me, probably because of the oldness of my system.
Have fun.

There's no single player, but there is a skirmish mode you can play with, and ~6 maps.
Unfortunately, this beta requires a monstrous machine to use, and I inevitably grind to a halt, crash and burn after a few minutes when too many things are going on...

I was stupid.
I enabled all AI sides as a test on skirmish, with all setings on high.
Started off like a dream, 70 fps solid.
60...
50...
40...
30...
20...
10...

For about 15 minutes. The AI is OMFGBBQ, owns your face so hard. Uses so much juice, that not even my machine can run it.

Well, against 1 AI in 2.7, It lasts a while then drops to unacctapble rates.
besides, I suck at it anyway. I'm gonna hold off until the full game comes out and I start off at the tutorial
